7mm-08 Brass

I bought Remington brass for mine because that's what the store had. Really high quality brass usually isn't made in 7mm-08 because it's not that popular with the competitive shooters that demand the best brass. However, 308 Win brass is made by everyone that makes rifle brass. It's an easy trick to just run 308 brass through a 7mm-08 full-length resizing die and, voila, you have 7mm-08 brass with a 308 headstamp. Lapua is reputed to be the best. If you want really top quality brass you'll need to reform their 308 cases.

I've been using RP brass in my 7mm-08 and it has performed to my satisfaction.

I like Remington, Winchester and Federal brass for most rifle calibers. They all seem to work well for me. If you want something considered "better" I would give Hornady brass a try. It's made a little better than the other brands but it doesn't cost you what Lapua, Norma and Nosler brass will... (which are all a Dollar or more a piece)

Why would you need brass that's a consistent weight for a hunting rifle?

IMO checking the weight of each case for hunting ammo will make no difference whatsoever. But, it's your rifle and ammo and you can do as you please. I suggest you buy a small amount of Hornady brass and see if it's uo to your standard.
