I have a gent offering me a NIB XD40 for my absolutely, very minuscule, slightly used Sig 522. Do I dare? I've never owned an XD.

I do like it, a reliable rifle, new. I have gotten six squirrels in a few days with it. Only owned a week.

Im waiting on pics from buyer. I'm assuming 4" model.

I'd keep the Sig 522. It is my favorite .22 LR rifle bar-none.

I've had a Springfield XD pistol in .45ACP. Not disappointed, but not impressed either and sold it after a year or so.

It would take a boatload of cash to pry my 522 away from me.

Told the guy "no". Based soley on the fact that he was pushy, and I thought over RCarms' post. Thanks for keeping me from a mistake boys.:)

Mods can shut this one down!

Before you shut it down, what optic(s) have you chosen to use? I bought a Nikon 4X Rimfire on closeout for $75. Zeroed easily and more accurate than I am at 100 yds.

ETA: how does it feed on dirty bulk ammo after a few hundred rounds? Mine does fine until it gets thoroughly fouled, but a quick breakdown and wipe of the action gets it back in good shape. I'm really happy with mine...

Feeds Remington Thunderbolt, fouled or not, every damn time. Need I say more!

I put a Center Point el cheapo on it. Didn't want to put anything fancy on it just yet. Happy to say I shot a bushy tail with is Sunday for the first time, dead nuts shot at 25 yards give or take. It's zeroed at 25 yds, almost the same at 50, and at 100 I aim roughly four inches high to ring my 8" gong no problem. I suppose I would be dumb to sell it. I've never shot a squirrel with a tac .22, and it felt rewarding to do so.

rsbufo: I'm stoked that you like yours, and you're right, they're great guns. I guess what I was thinking when opting to trade it was what some call momentary cerebral flatulation. Brain fart to the lay.

Glad you kept that 522. Great little gun. have an XD .45, the 5" tactical model from the first generation of that line. Nice pistol, I actually love it, but I dont think I'd trade my 522 for even that.

Yessir, I do believe you would have. Thats just a handy little rifle, but as a proud owner of both I think you made a right decision. That said, pick yourself up an XD one of these days in your chosen caliber. Nice pistols.
