Care to guess what type of factory ammo this is in 25-06? I got it in a trade with the rifle. The guy said he wasn't sure what it was. But he wasn't a handloader. Bullet weighs 100 grains, looks to me like a Sierra Gameking. Brass is Winchester Super, but I can't google up anything that shows me they were ever together as a factory load. Anybody ever buy a box with those components?

Kinda looks like a handloaded Sierra Gameking with about 54 grains of IMR 4064, but just a guess. ;)

In my experience if you know the bullet you are ahead of the game. I have been able to get 1 bullet to work equally well with 3 powders. Load development with each was done.

My first guess on the powder would be Varget due to the gold coating color. Problem is color can be off in your picture. My Varget has never been that bright.

If you know the powders you can probably differentiate between them. The would be a multiple choice type answer.

If you have no limit as to what powders then it is a wide open essay question.

Consult some loading manuals to see if Varget is a safe sensible powder for the load. You have bullet weight & charge weight so that helps.
