Laser light combo's

The three I'd look at in order of lowest price to highest price

1. Streamlight TLR
2. Insight Tech M6 X (I own one and like it)
3. Surefire X400.

Can't speak to green lasers. Don't own one.

I use a Viridian C5L on anything with a rail. It easily fits an SR9c without any barrel or trigger overhang. I picked it up for $300 a few years ago not long after they started making them. I prefer it to red lasers since green is much easier to see. In direct sun you won't see it 30 feet, more like 20. At night I can see it about 75-100 meters away. CR2 batteries are expensive (3 for $8 from Viridian and 6 for $13 from Amazon) so I would recommend picking up a charger and rechargeable batteries if you use it often enough.

Whatever is chosen the laser should have IR beam.

I have about 7-8 Streamlight TLR-2 laser/lights on handguns, rifles and shotguns.
They are excellent.










The thing is I have a home range where I practice low light/dark laser shooting about three evenings a week. So I actually give a workout to the stuff I buy.
Before installing the TLR-2 on a shotgun I called Streamlight and asked them if the TLR-2 would stand up to the beating it would get on a 12 ga shotgun. Streamlight said, "No problem. That's what we design them for".
And I have never had a problem with the TLR-2.

I've purchased six Crimson Trace lasers, all red, and wife and I are very pleased with them. So pleased in fact, she won't put her brand new Ruger SR9 on the night stand until #7 is bought and mounted on it. On a bright sunny Georgia day, they're good for a max of about 30'.

Green is a nice Christmas color, so is red, but based on my very limited use of a green laser (once at my gun club), I've stuck with the red.

CTC customer service is very good. One laser started throwing two dots and I go the replacement in three days. Memory is a mite foggy on this and might have been two or four days. Whatever ... it came very quickly with no questions asked.

And is it worth the extra cash to get a green laser.

I bought a $400 green laser. Now it's in the junk box.

The green laser is bright enough to see it at 100 yards on a cloudy day, but not bright enough to stand out and be instantly seen at 15-25 yards on a Sunny day.

In low light/dark, when lasers are meant to be used, the (bright) green laser is way too bright for practical use.

In low light/darkness the (Red) laser is King. In the hands of someone that's practiced and knowledgeable it is very accurate and very fast.

By the time I shot the 40 yard target, the target was just a Gray blur but still it's easy to get fast accurate hits with the (Red) Crrimson Trace laser (standing, two hands).

I've got a Streamlight Model TLR-2 S that fits perfectly on my SIG Model 226. The LED light is blindingly bright and the red laser is easy to pick up. The activating paddles are easy to access and you have a choice of laser alone, light alone or laser/light combined (my favorite configuration). The unit comes with a strobe feature (ergo, the "S") but it takes a lot of practice to deploy it effectively. I haven't had the unit long enough to review its durability, etc., but, so far, it's everything I wanted out of a light/laser combo. If you're interested in buying one, Nachetz currently has them on sale for $241.99, plus $17.23 shipping (to Ohio); which is a pretty fair price based on my shopping around "research".

I keep a Surefire X400 on one of my PPQs that’s reserve for HD. It’s plenty bright for close range daytime use, but excels at low-light and awkward positions.

And it's great that you have both options at your disposal. If the laser fades out, it's a simple transition to resort to irons. A win-win situation if there evere was one!
