What some socialists think on gun rights

Another opinion in the debates.

Below are links to two articles that have appeared in the pages of the socialist newspaper "The Militant". The Militant generally reflects the views of the U.S. based Socialists Workers Party. Unlike many of the "socialists" in the U.S. they have never been a part of the Democratic party.

They support the 2nd amendment and oppose the current Republican and Democratic push on the Bill of Rights.

Wow, that was like looking into some sort of Bizarro World. Their Soviet forebears sure did not feel that way about an armed proletariat.

Well...that's one angle we haven't seen brought up pretty much anywhere! On the job accidents and deaths -- happening clearly to OTHERS, not the violent actor himself -- induce a social pressure which manifests in young men of college age committing mass murder? Learn something new every day!

A lot of socialism has anti-authoritarian and anarchist subtexts, so this is not entirely surprising. This kind of issue is usually the differentiating factor between left-statists and left-anarchists. Anyway, the Communist Party has come out in support of gun control.
 
The People's World article is one of liberalism's best shots at a theoretical attack on the 2nd Amendment. One of the things the Stalinists have always done best, provide some left "theoretical" cover for depriving working folks of their rights.

The truly loony "revolutionary" Left is in favor of gun rights, because it thinks the availability of guns will enable its revolutionary fantasy. If it ever got into power, it would immediately ban guns for everybody except its own members.

Looks like the rancid Mel Gibson like Jew hating comments that were made were deleted by the poster who made them and who may have thought better of it. Comments replying to them were also deleted by the fella who replied. It seems Lemmycaution saw the comments and reply before they were dropped and so his post.

Now you're caught up I think.

Ahhh...that often happens when folks rant instead of hitting the "Report Post" button. It is awful gentlemanly of everyone to give us a chance to police ranks before they rail against us in public.

Fortunately our reptilian hides don't permit us to be wounded by such slings and arrows, and our saintly patience is eternal and undiminishable.
