Well, let's hope not. If they dont pass a CCW law by teh Court's deadline, it turns into Constitutional Carry and there are no restrictions. I am pulling for that.
 
I like this bill better HB0997. According to it, any NRA Certified instructor can teach the class as opposed to making 16 hour courses for the "state" to educate instructors who already have certifications. That would be a bureaucratic nightmare if you want the STATE to educate instructors. Sheesh.
 
Don't you guys understand that people in big cities need a completely different set of rules than rural areas? They don't really need to be able to hunt in cities because of supermarkets and therefore don't really need guns.

If somebody breaks in to your place in the city, just hide under the desk and grab some scissors.

Not quite true - the UUW law would be void BUT there are all kinds of other little 'got ya' in Illinois law that would make it a bad deal for us, that is little bits and pieces that relate to firearms in other laws
 
Just from a brief scan of the text:

1) $100 application fee (ouch).
2) Shall issue.
3) Must have FOID.
4) Prohibited places look like the "standard" list, ie. Courthouses, gov buildings.
5) A place that serves alcohol if less than %50 of sales come from food is off limits.
6) Casinos/gambling areas are off limits.
7) Public transportation cannot prohibit carrying.
8) Must inform officer IMMEDIATELY on contact initiation (bad bad bad).

Looks a lot like what we have in Ohio.
 
Prediction

Cook County will probably do as DC did when their oppressive gun laws were overturned......simply "slow walk" everything and make everybody jump through all the hoops...and slow walk some more. But it is some progress for citizens in the republic.
 
I'm not sure I understand the legalese. My interpretation of a bill being filed is that it's now up for vote. Much can go wrong between a bill being introduced and it turning into law.

It's not even been to 'Committee' and the Senate hasn't even introduced a bill there.

Nope, it just means it was filed and then it is up to the leadership to assign it to a committee. Once it's in committee, the chairman of that committee can kill the bill by refusing to call it for a vote to get it to the floor of the house or the senate.

Much can go wrong between a bill being introduced and it turning into law.

In Illinois they can delete all the text in the bill and put in text that has nothing to do with the title. They have done it before.
 
According to the link I read, this bill was filed 1-13-11, and the last action was the House adjourning sine die, meaning the absolute end of this session as of 1-18-13. I am not 100% sure of IL, but I do believe this means this bill is dead.
 
Last I knew the SCOTUS ordered Chicago to implement some sort of carry option so they have to allow something. And I thought aside from Crook county the rest of IL wasn't too bad as far as gun laws?
 
What I am curious of, is will the state of IL recognize ccw holders that live in another state.

the intent is yes - details not yet worked out

This is going to be a HUGE fight folks HUGE those of us trapped behind enemy lines will appreciate and help free state folks can bring to bear.
