Wow had an amazing day at the local outdoor range! Had a whole pavilion to ourselves for our shooting fun.

Got some good work on the new Glock 23 Gen4. Put another 100 rounds of perfection throught it. Used some Winchesters. Man it shoots like a friggin dream. Accuracy is so impressive. Littered a tiny paper plate with bullet holes at 16.5 yards, double tapping with the follow up shots.

Then the real fun came

Got to shoot the Saiga AK47 too. To say that thing was amazing is an understatement. Blasting clay discs on the hill 50 yards away.

Next got to shoot the HK 93 .556. Didn't take pic at range but this was from before we left. (Note: no rounds are loaded in clip)

Was also a blast to shoot. Especially with the red dot tactical sight was able to lock in dead on to whatever you pleased. Was amazed however at how heavy the front of the rifle was. At first was having a hell of a time trying to keep the beast steady! Mad props to the soldiers that carry and shoot those weapons every day to protect our nation.

As we cleaned up from a great day at the range we had one last pleasure to enjoy. A gentlemen set up next to us on the 300 yard range with a .50 caliber sniper rifle, even had his own scout.

That bad boy is so powerful it took the air out of our lungs when it was fired. And if we didn't have ears on we would assuredly be deaf. Amazing power

Here's to hoping every day at the range is as fun and exciting as this one! Happy and safe shooting everyone

Was that at the Titusville Rifle and Pistol club?

*Magazine, not clip. Garands use clips.

Most garands are bolt action what are you talking about. Or stripper clips. I was always told A clip is a feeding device that feeds the "fixed magazine" in rifles. Detachable magazines are for handguns. Please clarify if I'm Wrong because i don't want to commit one of the 7 deadliest sins (calling mag a clip)

No it wasn't at Titusville. It was at Orange County outdoor range out by moss park.

So is a mag an enclosed case and a clip is open and usually in stripper clips? Thanks for the pic, makes understanding easier. Been trying to educate myself on the differences. I guess more is in store lol

And How can I forgot the good ol M1. Thanks for the refresher.

Easy way to remember

Clips load magazines
Magazines load guns

Yeah I know that part as mentioned in earlier post. I said clips either feed fixed magazines, or you insert a detachable magazine.

But how do you know if a rifle has an attached magazine and therefore takes a clip or if it takes a detachable magazine.

I do appreciate you taking time to further educate me. I'm fairly new to the gun world and this is why I come to the forums. To learn!

If I'm understanding your question correctly.
If a rifle has a fixed mag and can utilize stripper clips for loading it you will usually find a slot to insert the clip into above the magazine and load it like this.

A detachable mag is loaded using clip like so
Note the detachable piece to fit the cip onto the mag

The M1 Garand is somewhat of an oddball in that the clip (the en-bloc clip) is inserted into the mag and remains there even during firing, it is ejected when the last round is fired. But even there the clip is loading the mag.

Note: Many rifles with a detachable mag can still be loaded in the same manner as ones with a fix mag. The M14/M1A is one example, assuming of course no scope is mounted.

10-4 and thank you again. Knowledge is power and now I'm a little better off now. Not to mention avoid being assaulted by the terminology police in the future.

And it's time for the student to teach the teacher. I will be taking this info back to the friend who told me the previously incorrect info so he too can see the light.
