Is this a modl 19?

Looks like a later Model 13. Round butt. It does not have the pinned barrel and recessed cylinder.

Looks to be in excellent condition.

IF it's chambered for .357 except for fixed rear sight it is model 19. S&W was very famous for changing something minor and giving different model designation to it. Same gun made on L instead of K-frame also has different nickname and model designation.

It's not mine... A lady who lives 30 miles away does not know how 2 check for the model or serial # & has offered her 2 me for $475. What would u do?

I would drive the 30 miles; not far (to me) to get a chance to really look a purchase over before buying.

If it's a Model 13 and it's in the condition it appears to be in the pictures (which is excellent), $475 is not an unreasonable price, though I'd open the negotiation with a lower bid.

The Model 19 also had a shrouded ejector; the Model 13 -- which this very likely is -- did not.

Also, not quite sure what is meant in the L versus K frame statement, but there were some very real differences between those frames; the L is more robust.

At $475 I'd grab it!

They usually go 5 or 6 something.

Doesn't matter if it's a 13 or whatever, grab it!
(it's definitely not a 19)

They don't go that high where I live. A good M13 can get up to $450 but not $500 and I've never seen one for $600. Most are just under $400 when they become available here.

I paid $400+tax for a M19-5 in amazingly good condition with the box, paperwork, original target grips, and a set of pachmyar grips (including their original box as well).

How recently? A terrific price for what you describe, but an anomaly in the current market.

About 3 weeks ago. I bought a great shape model 15-4 from a private seller for $400 last week. It was supposed to include the box, and included A box, but not the correct box.

Revolvers around here are under appreciated.

A model 19 has adjustable sights and a shrouded ejector rod.

Depending on condition, $475 is a reasonable price for both. You're not robbing her, but you are also getting a very good deal.
Depending how good a friend she is, another $50 to her wouldn't be a bad offer.

A K and L frame aren't the same gun. The L frame is larger with a larger forcing cone.

Ruger certainly has differnt names and catalog/model numbers for every combination of barrel length and sights.

Remember the Speed Six / Securtiy Six

KGP 161 would be a stainless 6" Adustable sight GP 100 for example.

As everyone else has said... Sure looks like a model 13 to me.

Howdy

This is a Model 13, although it has the more common square grip.

This is a Model 19.

Both are built on the K frame. Ignore the fact that the Model 19 has the six inch barrel and the over sized target grips. The distinguishing characteristics are the Model 13 has fixed sights, heavy bull barrel, and no cylinder pin shroud. The Model 19 has adjustable sights, a narrower barrel, and a cylinder pin shroud.

Looking at your photos, the screw on the right side, just forward of the trigger, appears to be slightly marred. Sometimes this just means that a screw worked loose and was retightened, and sometimes it means the gun was taken apart by someone other than a qualified gunsmith. I'd inspect the gun carefully before making an offer to buy. Here's a good set of instructions for how to do that:

Iggy is that a 66 or a Nickle 19. If Nickle, how did you get it so mirrored.

Beautiful Smith. I have a blued 19-4 with the 2.5 barrell, but my search for 66 in the same on configuration continues.
