US Firearms still exist?

He must be a little "whacky" to produce something like the Zip gun ,after having so much success with beautiful single actions. It does not make sense. I have 2 of his single action guns and they are first class guns in every way. Maybe he just could not make enough profit on it anymore.
 
silicosys4 : I found a SAA USFA .357 magnum online a few months ago...It is a beautiful gun, every bit as well made as any Ruger I've seen, with deep bluing and very nice polish, everything was very well made and fitted.
The price was obscenely low. Under $300.

Arp32:Sounded like the owner is a tad eccentric and is going to try out the Zipgun thing for a year or two.
I think you hit the nail on the head.

I did, its been a fantastic gun for me
But I just looked at it, and realized its not a U.S.F.A. gun,
its a U.S.A. (United States Arms) gun. Easy to mistake. I believe they were another company that produced SAA's in the 70's before they folded.
I don't think they are the same company, and although the US Arms revolver I have is a fine gun, its not in the "custom SAA" arena.
I'd be sorry to see those USFA guns go though.

USFA made an ANNOUNCEMENT last November, but the actual transition timeframe is unknown to most of us outside the operation.
No rock involved.
It was unclear exactly what the situation was, with the traditional site still up.

Actually I would say that US Arms guns are better built and certainly better finished than any Ruger. Only downfall seems to be an inherently weak transfer bar that is easily replaced with a Ruger part. As we had to do on Dad's Abilene. Jim Stroh fixed it right up and the cost was minimal.
 
I always liked the USFA guns. I have 4, two Rodeos, a "pre-war" finish, and a .36 percussion. All very nice.

I have been banging my head over the USFA decline and fall!! I got a 32-20 and they made a 327 magnum cylinder for it. I bought a second 32-20 and they said WAIT and four months later I am still WAITING:(
 
I guess I just don't get why someone would shelve a successful product like their fine single action revolvers and go with this plastic widget instead. One's a sure thing in terms of quality production and customer demand while the other seems to be a big gamble at this point in time in the current market.
 
I bought a USFA Rodeo 4 3/4 in barrel in .45 Colt, a few years ago, and had Longhunter slick it up, and do the spring modification. Now I carry it as a woods gun. It is a very nice SAA, escpecially for the price I paid which was $450, N.I.B. I still want a Colt, but its nice to have the USFA in the meantime.
 
The problem is Donnelly. He ran the company like his personal candy store and its direction depended on whatever whim he was riding at the moment. Had he been in charge of a company he did not own, he would've been fired a long time ago.

If true it's unfortunate. Not the first fella to do that with a good company though.

Personally I don't know enough facts about their financial status, profitability, debt, sales, etc. to have an informed opinion on why they are doing what they are doing. I don't really have many facts on what they are doing. Likely more info over to the Ruger forum or SASS cites.

Yes, of course USFA does exist, nobody said it doesn't.
Yes, we know they now make that Zipper.
And I really don't care if you really do have a Zip gun coming your way. :)
You're welcome to it. I'll stick to .22 handguns that fit my hand and look & feel like a gun that I can enjoy shooting. You're entitled to spend your money any way you want.
