Request for Info From HK P30 Owners

Love mine. Worth the money for the gun and the threaded barrel. No hiccups at all. About 1000 round through it. Standard length, 9mm, V3.

Only gripe was the slide stop was too large (for me), causing failure to lock back after last round fired due to my thumbs forward grip. Replaced it with slim slide stop from P2000 and been happy ever since.

If there are any specific questions, I will do my best to answer them.

I too stand ready to answer any questions. The slide stop isn't an issue for me, it is related to the size of your hands and your grip. So not everyone will have that issue, but there are folks who run into it.

I look at the P30 as the continuing evolution of the perfect pistol. First the USP, then the P2000, then even better yet is the P30. Not leaps and bounds better, just easier to shoot, softer recoil, even more intelligent in design.

Do they make a version of the P30 that has the decocker on the lever like the USP V1 does? I would only pick the P30 over the USP for ergonomics but if it doesn't have the safety/decocker on the same side I would rather have a USP.

P30 v3 has the decocker on the back.
P30S v3 has the decocker on the back and ambidextrous safety levers.

when it comes to combinations of safety, decocker and trigger style (DA/SA, LEM, light LEM) they pretty much have them all covered.

A cartridge looks backward in the magazine in that picture. Be careful.

HK P30:: (Standard LEM version) exposed hammer with spur. The Hammer has an internal cocking piece connected to the main spring and the hammer. When shot the cocking piece remains cocked and the hammer remains lowered. This provides additional safety and lower DA trigger pull weight. The cocking piece can be de-cocked by pressing the de-cocker button located at the rear of the slide next to the hammer. The trigger pull is 4.5# in DA mode 11.4# if internal cocking piece was lowered.

HK P30 V1: (Light LEM) The same as P30, bobbed hammer and no de-cocker. The only way to release the cocked mainspring is to pull the trigger. Trigger pull of approximately 4.5#.

HK P30 V2: The same as V1 with a DAO trigger pull of 7.3#

HK P30 V3: DA/SA with single-piece hammer and de-cocker button at the rear of the slide next to the hammer. Trigger pull forces same as for basic P30.

HK P30 V4: The same as V1 with a trigger pull of 6.1#

HK P30 V5: DAO trigger with a bobbed, single-piece hammer and no de-cocker. Trigger pull is 8.1#

HK P30 V6: The same as V5 with a trigger pull of 8.8#

All P30's are supplied with two additional back straps and two additional sets of lateral grip plates.

I find the decocker button a little weird, but otherwise the P30 fits me like the proverbial glove.

Not an owner but I tried a HK P30L 9MM today at the factory shoot at my LGS today.

Wow what a nice pistol. I have tried the P30 a couple times before but the P30L was just perfect for me. I fired only ten rounds but a very nice grouping with five of those rounds wthin a .5 inch group at 7 yards. The P30L is now high on my want to get list.

I love mine too.

My only complaint is not being able to find more mags for it right now.

Hah, not familiar with HK's? It's an HK thing. Years ago an official picture got out where the photographer let out a picture with the rounds loaded backwards. It's now a bit of a joke.

I personally love my P30L. I don't care for the safety but now they have it in every flavor possible. The trigger has smoothed out. The worst I can say is that trigger has a lot of creep. You get used to it and after loads of rounds it's nice and smooth, very predictable.

Many have said it needs a break in. I'd tend to agree. I didn't have a problem when I was shooting it, but others who shot my gun in the first few boxes it and weren't experienced shooters we're getting stovepipes by probably limp wristing it.

All I can say is that it's his favourite pistol. I personally have a Walther P99 AS with ambi controls and factory steel sights that I love but I think the P30 is even more ergonomic and slightly shorter. I think very high about the P30.

Yours looks like the same version as mine.
P30 "S"
"S" meaning it has ambi "Safety" levers.

Notice the gun in post #2 doesn't have any.

I have a standard p30L. It is the best fitting, most comfortable, perfectly sized pistol I have ever owned or fired.

That being said, there are a few negative points for me, others may have no problems.

One, finding holsters and even magazines is a frustraiting effort.

Two, the slide release extends reward too far and interferes with a proper grip and can result in locking the slide back when firing.

Three, while some don't care, the cheap and loosely designed right side slide realease is irritating and has a very cheap look and feel. I removed mine. As soon as I can get a P30S (shorter thrumb release on the left side) slide release, I plan to cut a bit off right side lug (this is what the right side lever fits on). This solves both problems.

Was the p2000 the precursor to the Glock?
