Ok, I have seen footage of the soldiers shooting pistols but am curious to what these are. I am guessing EAA or maybe Hi-power? Don't have a pic but Drudge has lil kim holding one.

Might be a Type 68 as seen here.

I didn't know off the top of my head. I watched the video and then poked around on the interwebs. So could be wrong.

Was it some new piece he was trying out? I couldn't find a translation of their conversation.
I listened to that part about 50 times and I'm pretty sure of two things:

1. My Korean is absolutely terrible and
2. I don't think they mentioned the model pistol

A few weeks ago, I saw a bunch of North Koreans with handguns on a news website.

Many of them had CZ75 type handguns, including one that appeared to be nickel plated and which had white grips made from ivory or some synthetic.

The odds are that these are either real CZ75s, or the Norinco copy. I'm unaware of a North Korean copy. The North Koreans did make the following pistols in the past:

  • .32acp FN Browning M1900 clone. Truly a bizarre firearm, out of date a hundred years ago. The only explanation I can think of is that there were literally DOZENS of Chinese clones of the Browning 1900, all made in small, nonstandardized job lots for various warlords. There's pretty good coverage of them in A.B. Zhuk's "The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Handguns Pistols and Revolvers of the World, 1870 to the Present". It's possible that the North Koreans ended up with a bunch and copied them.
  • Suppressed version of the above Model 1900 clone. A bizarre choice, but at least having some rationale.
  • The "Ponghwa" version of the TT-33. Sort of a "Commander" version of the TT-33.
  • If I'm not mistaken, they also made a standard TT-33 clone.

Why are we imagining them using some old TT design?

Anyone ever think they have copied versions of sig. Or beretta?

BaekDuSon (IIRC) is a domestic copy of the CZ-75. Probably what you saw. In previous years they have used both Makarov and Tokarev type pistols.

I get nrevous just watching those NK videos. The one I watched had two officers being interviewed and both of them had their finger on the trigger. I was nervous just watching.
