Modle 41 smith

The S&W Model 41 is still in production and should be available new from any large firearms dealer (brick & mortar or online), although you might have to order one if they don't have one in stock. Its also been around a long time, so there are lots of them available on the used market if you need to save a bit of money or need it right away.

One of the guns I never should have sold. Great shooters but seriously pricey!

The S&W Model 41 is a great mid priced 22LR Semi auto for bullseye pistol and some of the pistol games. I shot one for a number of years and still shoot it but I went to a Pardini SP for bullseye pistol which is somewhat lighter and appreciated by my aging arms.

Note that "mid-priced" is only in comparison to some of the very expensive European target pistols. The Model 41 runs around $1400.00.

New ones are very hard to come by. It's still in production, but apparently not in continuous production. My FFL friend had one on order for about six months before it finally showed up.

The good news is that there are plenty of used ones around, in various conditions. The best price I've heard recently for a nice used one is $700, but that's rare. I would expect to pay about $1000 unless you don't mind getting a beater.

Any of the auction sites usually have a few or more for sale, lots of barrel length and sight options too.

Once you own a Model 41, you will never want to sell it and you will regret it if you ever do.

I'VE HAD THREE S&W M41 pistols, two 5 1/2" and one 7 1/2"[?] and was damn glad to see all three head down the road.

Wil Terry you're an exception.
There are always exceptions on the High Road
BTW, the barrels are 7" unless yours had a compensator installed
Did yours have a compensator installed?
I've owned mine since around 1990, shoot high velocity ammo, (Gasp), have two barrel assemblies, 7", my favorite and 5 1/2" heavy, used mainly for hunting.

A lot of folks with experience will tell you the older ones are nicer than the newer ones. As an owner, I tend to agree.

the tolerences may be better and the accuracy improved but the guns just feel cheaply executed now...

I don't know what options they offer today, but mine is definitely a 5 1/2 inch bull barrel with an extensible front sight. Great gun but just a hair less accurate than my Ruger Mk I, with the 5 1/2" bull barrel.
