I'm trying to find some information on recipes for these. I have Unique powder and about 100 of the 88 gr projectiles I would like to use up. I've found information for 115 gr fmj but not much else.

380 is also 9mm as is 9 mak

380 is 9X17

Mak is 9X18

Luger is 9X19

and there are others as well, including 9X21, 9X23, and 356TSW

Thanks for the info. I'll save those for my BIL's .380 and pick up some 115 gr rounds for my 9mm.

I would use 90 gr. data, but I don't see anything with Unique at first glance though, Hogdon. I'll dig through some books and see if anyone has data for that powder.

I load 90's all the time, XTP's, but I either use HS6 or Longshot.

Speer #11 (1987), 9mm, 88gr JHP, 6.1gr Unique 1340 fps - 6.5gr Unique 1405 fps, CCI primers, no OAL specified.
I'd load them around 1.010"

Note: Lyman 49 specifies 5.0 - 6.3gr Unique with a Sierra 90gr JHP. So, I would work up from 5.3gr in .2gr increments until you are happy with the results.

Someone gave me a very old box of 90gr FN Sierra bullets. Just for fun, I did a load work up using published data in my 9mm Luger CZ. They ran fine, but were way 'snappy'.

PLEASE NOTE: The 9MM MAK is not---NOT !!!---a standard 9MM on the O.D.

The loading data for 88 and 90gr 9MM bullets is interchangable.

The 9MM 88gr [ 90gr] bullets are perfectly servicable in the 9MM PARABELLUM cartridge and kill the stew outta small game. You can run them at 1500 with no problems IF you take the time to develope the loads in YOUR 9MM pistol.
The old SUPERVEL 9MM 90gr loads as well as the CORBON 9MM90gr loads were specifically designed to kill the crap outta 2-legged varmints with nothing---NOTHING---ever exiting the back. I know for a fact that they did this in fine style.

Whatever you do, take a little time developing your loads in a few small batches. Make sure the rounds cycle the gun properly and lock the slide on the last shot or you'll end up with about 80 PITA rounds that you will have to pull or tolerate until they are gone.

As linked in my other post above, be sure there is enough bullet in the case. Short little things!

Can one use a 90gr .380 bullet to load for 9mm? Or are the 9mm 90 grains different in some way? (longer so you can get something inside the case maybe?)

Edit: Clicking on Rule 3's link now, so maybe Im about to find that answer.

Any 90 gr bullet that's .355/356 or close" will load in 9x19 pistols.

As said above, they are "Zingers" coming out of a full size 9mm Luger.
Other than his suggested uses, they were given to me because the buyer had no use for them , and I agree with him after about 20 rds down range. WHY?

Tried out my new Lee turret press tonight with the 9mm loads I was asking about. That press really works well compared to the old Herters single stage press I've been using. Anyhow, I loaded a batch of 10 rounds at 5.2 grains of unique to start with. I'll see how it works this weekend.

I used mid table Longshot data and was getting an easy 1400 fps. I worked up to max and was hitting a full 1500 fps.. Good accuracy, no excessive pressure indications what so ever. They're snappy, but not painful to shoot by any standard for 9mm. Those are the loads both my wife and one of my daughter in laws prefer to carry for S.D.. I figure a 90 gr. JHP at 1500 fps should due just fine for a SD load, as long as it's 100% reliable.

I wouldn't want to get hit with any of it!

5.2 is pretty light for Unique with an 88gr. I load my 115 grain light target loads hotter than that. With such a light charge and light bullet they will probably burn
very dirty.
I would start at at least the min listed charge from speer #11 or alliant. And work up for accuracy.

I was given a couple hundred a while back. I used 5.2gr of titegroup and they shot well and cycled the gun. With Unique you will have to work it up from 5.2 till they work. If you have some I would try a faster powder and save the Unique for mid-heavy bullets. I love it with 230gr .45auto loads.

Shot the first set I loaded the other night, nice to be able walk out the back door and shoot when I want. Makes it nice for testing loads. I loaded those 5.2 grains with Unique as stated (it's what I have right now to make it go bang) and it cycled the gun well right to the end of the clip and locked the slide. Going to step it up to 5.6 to see if my group can get tighter. I'm taking it up .2 each test from here.

Well, 5.6 doesn't shoot worth a crap. All over the place with it. I'll step it up to 5.8 and see what happens.

Worked up to 6 grains and it got worse. The best grouping I've had so far is at 5.2 grains. Going to load about five more of those and if they shoot as well as they did the first time that's what I'll stay with.

I would use the 90 grain data. Seems like 88 grain is a 380 bullet usually so I would measure a couple bullets and make sure they were indeed .356. I'm not totally sure but I think 380 is a little wider
