Rem 1100 price check

Just looking at the ad, make sure he has the 2 3/4" barrel. I don't have much use for 3" anymore since I discovered 2 3/4" fasteel. Upland birds, I'd never have a use for a 3" only gun. I doubt a new 2 3/4" barrel is real cheap, though it might not be THAT bad. I haven't priced 'em.

Shouldnt I be able to shoot 2 3/4 in with a 3"barrel?

Been a while, but IIRC the gas valving...orifice...is different in the 3" vs 2 3/4" barrels. 2 3/4" is probably gonna jam in the 3" barrel....I'm thinking...some one help me out here. The 11/87 was an improvement in that it incorporated a valving system that bled off excess gas from the 3" round such that one didn't need to switch barrels/gas ports. It's about the gas pressure, not the chamber size.

I'd call him and tell him I'm on my way!

The 1100 magnum I am familiar with shoots both 2 3/4 and 3 " shells from the same barrel that is marked to shoot either.

Good find there.

i'VE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH. iT SOUNDS LIKE IT SHOULD CYCLE THE HEAVE 2 3/4 BUT MAYBE NOT THE LIGHT ONES. Darn cap lock!

The link you posted was for a 12 gauge Model 1100 Magnum with a plain barrel. Please don't get offended, but I think you need to do some reading and undestanding before you jump the shark over a gun.
A 3" Magnum 1100 will work with with 2-3/4" Magnum shells also, in either gauge, but how well it works with other lighter 2-3/4" ammo is going to be an unknown until you try the particular gun. Also, many 1100s have been "Bubbaed" by previous owners. I have seen a cracked receiver on more than one. I am an 1100 lover. When one guy cried to me about his cracked receiver I looked at it and the gas ports had been drilled out to 1/8". I asked him and he assured me he had checked another one and it had 1/8" ports. The one he checked was an 11-87. Totally different, and I was not surprised at the results. He is now convinced 1100s are junk. He is a computer whiz, but he couldn't understand gas dynamics in forever.
