Agreed. It was nippy this morning at 43F in Houston. I had to turn on the seat warmers in the car.

Back to the Walkers, I really need to get mine out and shoot it. I just don't like doing it in the cold as my fingers don't like much below 60 anymore.

I received yet another email from Cabelas. I'm always getting them but because I get bombarded by email I usually delete them along with a lot of other emails. But this time I made the mistake of opening up one of the Cabelas emails. The email ad was for "one time - for the day" 20% discount promotion. My next mistake was to get curious about what qualified for the 20% discount. So off to the Cabelas website I went. I went directly to the blackpowder pistol section. The first thing I saw was the Uberti Walker on sale for $349.99 down from $449.99. The sale price was pretty good but I was curious to see if this product qualified for the 20% promotion. To check I put it in my Cart. I added the discount promotion code and low and behold that $349.99 Uberti Walker was discounted another $70. Then I was looking at $279.99 plus free shipping and no sales tax. Well dang it if my finger was so excited to see that Walker at this price it hit the checkout button and proceeded to click along on all the pertinent buttons to order that thing. Don't you hate it when you open up an email you know your shouldn't? :D Now my other Walker has a playmate.

Clem,
That price is incredible! I know I'd get into trouble if I looked at their website. I almost have that much in Cabela's points...

It's official! I wish I had gotten in on the one day 20% off sale but I hesitated. I did get it for $349 but with club points, it was free. At any rate, it's here.....

Hello guys. I found your very informative site last night. As I just became the proud owner of an unmarked Italian Replica Walker, I would like to join your Walker Club.
I have a question about identifying who made my pistol. It has both of the Italian proof markings & the PN on the frame ahead of the trigger guard, & just below the serial number. The serial number--A60180--appears to be acid etched in the metal. Also, the serial # is also located under the trigger guard on the bottom of the frame. The only other markings are on the right side of the barrel flat above & between the wedge screw, & the ramrod pivot screw. These are the same 3 markings as are on the frame.
When I traded for this Walker, I noticed that the top iron backstrap had a slight gap between it & the frame, & also the gun had been Duracoated. That led me to believe that this pistol was origionally sold as a kit. I tried to tighten the top backstrap screws, but they were already tight.
I have stripped the Duracoat from the gun, & am going to sand more wood from the grips so they fit correctly.
Also, my pistol has the U shaped mainspring that clips onto the brass gripframe.
I don't have any idea who made this Walker, but it seems to be very tight & the action is good. I haven't fired it yet, & am trying to decide whether to have the frame color case hardened, & the barrel blued, or leave it alone. The cylinder is very shiny, almost like stainless steel, with very nice engraving.
I don't know how to put photo's on yet, but will try to learn soon.
If anyone has any idea who made this Walker, please let me know. Thank you.

Hi. There are no markings on the barrel, except the proof marks & PN ahead & above the wedge on the right side. If it turns out to be an A.S.M, what kind of reputation to they have? This one seems to be very tight, & in very good condition, except for the external finish, which was Duracoated when I got it last week. It is now stripped to bare metal. The rear flat sides of the barrel show traces of blueing, but the round portion is bright metal. The main frame is very shiny now that it is stripped. Do Uberti parts interchange ,if I ever need anything? Thanks.

The ones from the 70s and early 80s rivaled the fit, finish, and engraving details of the Colt 2nd and 3rd gens. Unfortunately before they went out of business after the turn of the 21st century quality went downhill. Some are indifferent, inaccurate shooters, but can be smithed to fix those issues. Try vti for parts, remembering these are not being produced now. I haven't had to replace any major parts, but I do have some Uberti replacement screws that do fit, so maybe other parts would fit.

PS
My Walkers all have cylinders "in the white" like the originals. There is a fellow that creates nice shooting Walkers using I believe Armi San Marco cylinders along with current model Uberti frames and barrels.

Walker

Thank you Mr. Elhombre. I recieved a private message from another member, who saw the ad on Armslist.com from about a year ago when my Walker was sold to the person that I got it from last week. That ad clearly stated that it is a Uberti kit, & finished with Duracoat. After acquiring it, the next day I called the person that traded it to me, to ask about maker, & finish, to which he remembered the previous owner saying Uberti Kit, & Duracoat.
So I guess that I'll refer to it as a Uberti until someone proves me wrong. I'm going to try to take pictures tonight, & see if I can put them on here.
Thanks for your help---maybe we will learn more about these imports as we go along.

As I recall both Uberti and ASM made Walkers and other Colt replicas starting in the 1960s. Denis Adlers book on the the Italian repros is a good place to start. I like the ASMs as yhere exist some with very close markings to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen Colts. There is a somewhat murky and controversial connection between the ASMs and the 2nd gen Colts from posts here and there on the web. There is a museum in Oklahoma dedicated to reproduction revolvers I need to visit.

I just ordered my second Uberti Walker today. Midwayusa.com has them on clearance for $376.00. I'm going to deblue the cylinder for a more authentic look.

I'm going to send this one to Michael Grouse for engraving:

The engraving will look similar the the ASM engraved one shown earlier in this thread. My brand will be engraved behind the hammer.

I bought my Uberti Walker last September at a LGS. With 40 grains of BP, a 1/4" thick lubed wad and a 454 rb it is accurate at 12 yards, my normal off hand shooting distance for handguns. The loading lever dosen't even drop at that load. Won't replace the ROA for favorite but I kinda like the attention it gets at the range. Just its' size said hey hey looka here and when it speaks heads go up. LOL And with 60 grains..............

Just got my Walker back I still need to send for a trig ire spring then I can begin testing it. Barrels relined, chambers sleeved, and the rammer turned down and a bushing added. For good measure it sports a new dovetailed front site

Pics to follow
