Walker

I bought one last year well two. Sold one for a small profit.
I don't use flickr or instagram or any of those photo sites
So sometimes my photos don't load well.
My Walker with the period authentic rawhide loop for the lever, holster and the nipple wrench.
the 4x4 post I used for target practice at roughly 10 yd.
three in a row front then the back side Then let a buddy shoot it, he it way high and grazed the right side.
I hit where I was aiming one handed standing or at least close enough you wouldn't still be standing.
I consistenly use 50gr BP or T7
Also a picture of just some of the BP I own.
1863 Sharps 54 cal
1857 Smith 50 cal ( closer to 51)
1858 and a Dragoon not pictured is the 3rd model I kept
50 and 54 Lyman trades rifle
My Walker holster I custom made and I added a backing to it, so when on the belt it hangs 3" lower making easier to draw.

Walker Colt

I have been listening to conversations concerning tuning your revolver. I don't know what this means but I suspect that my Walker may benefit. It tightens up after the second shot not necessarily related to primer cap jamming. By tighten up, I mean the cylinder is difficult to advance to the next shot. I use 48 grains of pyrodex p. Advice is welcome. Thanks

Cyberdan,
The tuning of your Walker would not only make shooting it more fun, but will also prolong the life of the parts. The open top revolvers suffer from modern assembly which doesn't allow for hand fitting at the factory.
I make them very close tolerance machines that allow a long , jam free, non binding cylinder shooting session. I would refer you to the thread right here in the black powder forum that shows Brushhippie shooting Washbusters 3rd model Dragoon (with fanning). There's also a video of him shooting a '51 Navy (YouTube).
Pm me if you'd like more info.

Elhombre,

Very cool looking set up. Does the belt go around your gun bearer, or over your horse... That has GOT to be heavy.

membership

forgot to say in my post above, I was applying for membership
Only tuning I did on mine (it was a kit) was very light stoning of internal parts to assure there were no burrs.
And some judicious stoning of the wedge, So I could seat it firmly, but yet remove it with finger pressure.

treso mipple

I saw a couple posts regarding treso nipple 11-50-136
I can't find a listing for them in my Treso catalog.
I do find 11-50-13

Is the 136 just some outlets indication of a package of 6?

Looking at ordering some for my Walker and some for stock for resale!

DD4,

Take a look at the Possibles Shop. I think the business is in Arizona. I bought some nipples from him a few years ago. I spoke to him over the phone and he knew exactly what I was looking for. Might save you some trouble and time.

45 Dragoon

I want to acknowledge my very informative conversation with 45 Dragoon last night. My Walker will be on it's way to get goonerized shortly.

Yes - the practice of adding a 6 to the Treso part number is the way some sutlers designate their catalog number for a package of 6 nipples, as opposed to a single nipple.

treso nipple

yep after some research figured that out.
My normal wholesaler to me, doesn't stock this particlular nipple
Right now no new Treso items can be ordered.
He's moving from Pagosa Springs Colorado to Montana.
Figure it could be a month or so before he is set back up.

My wholesaler says he will see about ordering them in for me.
But I'm not in a big hurry.

I know, its probably sacrilegious to do this to a Colt address Walker but here you go.

BTW I bought a spare barrel on eBay to use...
