    1911 firing pin

That is a good question. I don't have the experience with super light trigger pulls to know but the only way I can see it is if the hammer gets caught on the half cock notch also. I've never run a mainspring lighter than 19 lbs and never had a ftf a primer in a 1911. I run cci primers. When I...

    1911 firing pin

I replied to post #23 and Jammersix; not you entrophy. I said Jammersix needs to learn more. He is stating misleading information. I am not referring or replying to post 10. Post 10 has some good information. I am well aware of how 1911 actions work and I do true radius trigger jobs on my sears...

    1911 firing pin

The firing pin weight has no effect on trigger pull. You need to learn more...mechanically and politically.

    357 Mag recommended loads

14.5 grains of 2400 under a 158 XTP or hardcast is my go to .357 load. I worked it up to 14.9 grains of 2400 (in the GP100 only).14.4 of AA#9 is also a good one in that gun. The GP100 can handle tons of full power loads. I load 7.5 grains of Unique also in my GP100's and Blackhawk under a 158...

    Pistol powder choices

I like WSF in .40 and WST in 45 auto. They both work great with lead. BE86 for 9mm. I haven't opened up the Sport Pistol or W244 I have yet. They look very promising sitting in the middle of things. CFE P is great in target 10mm loads. I still have W231 but mainly use it in 45 Auto full power so...

    New Alliant Sport Pistol

I also prefer single based powders and would do fine with N320 over Sport Pistol. Even WST which I prefer in 45 ACP is cool enough burning to do fine with lead and polymer bullets, but it's a bit reverse temp sensitive.

    Winchester 572 Powder

It looks very close to WSF. Since I have 2 big jugs of WSF I'll hold off on the 572 for a while. CFE appears to be slower burning at .40 pressures with 180 grain slug. CFE is very accurate for me in 10mm plinking loads with 200 grain slugs/7.0 CFE so I'll hold off some more on the 572.

    LC9 trigger kit by Galloway

Just heard back from Eric Galloway. Aparently the older model LC9's had tolerance stacking that puts the break very near end of trigger travel. His new kits are very precise. I had no need to touch the connector bar at all. The trigger and connector must be used together with the stock hammer...

    LC9 trigger kit by Galloway

I have an open email going with a gunsmith at Galloway. I am waiting on their response. If they want me to file the frame to give more break breathing room, the stock trigger may go back in. It sounds like the fellow before me had frame clearance issues in front of the trigger. Mine are behind.

    LC9 trigger kit by Galloway

I just installed a kit from their last batch. the RTK trigger bottoms out right after the break. The reset is fine, but take up is very sloppy and it stacks way worse than stock. the trigger stops are set for max travel. If I try to shorten/eliminate take up, I get no break. I am very unhappy...

The Caliber Wars! Myths Vs. Reality.

My opinion is not scientific; as I know velocity is a bigger factor in energy than mass; but mass is a bigger factor in momentum. Tissue is not just meat, but meat, fat, and bone. Sometimes bone must be penetrated to reach vitals. There are many who consider energy the end all factor, but I...

    Advice on the Ruger 1911

I would want to fit a non extended/snag proof teardrop thumb safety on it and maybe lower profile night sights. I like no FCS, series 70, and GI recoil setup. Investment cast frame from Pine Tree Castings are well known for their strength and uniform heat treatment.
