Baker "Batavia",... is it worth picking up??

Dave- Thank you. I'm unfamiliar with the Bakers so I needed to ask and find out. Looks like a nice gun. One thing, I didn't understand what you meant when you wrote, "Pull the forearm, see if the metal under cover these decades shows a pattern. If so, I'd skip it." Was that a typo? What...

Baker "Batavia",... is it worth picking up??

Came across a local shop that has a decent Baker Batavia in 12 ga. for $300. Has a little pitting towards the rear of both barrels. Locks up real solid, wood in good condition, no cracks. Barrels have some light freckling of rust beginning, and two small shallow dents,... one in each barrel...

Need Help with a Remington Model 10 Shotgun

Well guys it was a cinch to take down, thanks to that link from rbernie showing the old take down stuff. Thanks a million! Seems that the head space ring needs replacing, the teeth on the edge of it that holds it fast are worn pretty bad and I just can't get it where it needs to rest to bring...

Need Help with a Remington Model 10 Shotgun

Here's the issue... It's a Remington Model 10 in 12 ga. The barrel at the reciever is a little loose. I was told once that these can be tightened up and that this is nothing uncommon. Is this true? If so, how do I go about correcting this? Also, anyone know of a take down schematic...

    Looking for vintage hunting knickers

ArmedBear,... thank you for the links. Looks like the group in PA have an interesting group going. Looks very "English" and much more like a turn of the century thing (Edwardian) with plus-fours (aka: golf-style knickers) rather than a 20s-30s look of hunting and riding breeches. Never the...

    Looking for vintage hunting knickers

Those are simply the high topped boots more often seen in those days with a set of hunting breeches of the period. Leather gaiters or even woolen puttees were not as widely seen or worn then. I got a pair of LL Bean 16" tall mountain boots based on their boots they've been making since appx...

    Looking for vintage hunting knickers

ArmedBear... thanks but they're more like old 1920s european hiking knickers instead, they sit right below the knee, whereas the old hunting breeches go at least 7-8 inches below the knee and either laced up (the early ones) or has zipers instead of lacing. What I'm looking for are much...

    How's the MEC 600 Jr?

I got my great grandfather's MEC 600 Jr. from my Dad yesterday as he never did any reloading and I'm going to start soon. I wanted to see how they are, who's actually had experience with them, and if anyone has anything (dies, etc.) they'd like to part with for that machine for reloading...
