Amandakay, I have a .45 Colt/.410 barrel for my Contender pistol. Accuracy was terrible with Colt loads... due to the extra long chamber I guess. I hope your BFR revolver will be accurate with .45 slugs but if you do get poor accuracy results don't assume it's the result of poor handloads...

If your father-in-law is still Mobile.... take him to the biggest gun shop you can find and let him handle as many of them as he wants....even an old disabled guy is likely to enjoy a trip to a gun emporium. A revolver seems like a fine idea... not sure why folks are suggesting a single action...

How many rounds can you fire before the pistol become hot enough to be unpleasant? I have never seen one in person... love accurate pistols though.... would hate to buy one on line and then discover I was one of the folks that didn't "bond well" with it...

Reports sound.... odd... other words come to mind as well...

Make sure the screws holding the rear sight are tight.... I was ready to send a new S&W 625 back....till I discovered there was only one screw holding the sight into the frame....Loc Tight can be your friend....

My wife loves her smart carry... she started out with a S&W 442 but then "stole my steel frame model 60". I replace mine with a 3" j frame which is even easier to shoot well... she wants a medium sized Smart Carry for that one now...:scrutiny: If your wife does stay with the purse carry plan...

I just bought one of the 3" magnum police trade in from Bud's.... It was missing the magazine spring when I got it... sent them an email and they shipped me the spring... It works fine now.... they rated it at 70 to 80% which was more than a fair description... Mine came with the Speed Feed...

I have both guns.... the PM9 gets carried 99% of the time...
