Tikka makes a good one. I'd get the synthetic stock version if you hunt in the wet much. My wood stocked model swelled in the wet, making the magazine catch some what iffy.
I like the new model 70's better than the early models. If you get the Alaskan, get it in the .338 Win Mag. You can load it down easily and boy do the shot good groups. JMHO
I find them fun to shoot! Very little recoil, and very accurate. I enjoy shooting squirrels and rabbits with a pistol, the same round in a short rifle extends my killing range and gives me offhand shooting practice with a rifle.
I've had two of these in 45 Colt, a rifle and a carbine. Both were helped with a take down and deburring. My complaint with them is the chambers. After full length resizing 4 or 5 times the brass started splitting. The chambers are a little large for the hand loader.
