The G42 and P238 are in different size groups IMO. The G42 is closer to the size of a Shield, whereas the P238 is quite a bit smaller.
I really like my P238, but I wish it the controls protruded less from the sides. I'd say a Shield w/o safety, or a Beretta Nano are close in size to the G42...
I had a Kahr MK9 for several years. Great little pistol, reliable and accurate, kind of borderline for pocket carry in blue jeans, though, because of the weight (it's all steel).
45 Colt is king and more traditional.
357 (38 spl) is faster for follow-up shots, and cheaper to shoot.
Don't forget 44mag (44 spl) The special is also a classic round.
All three are equally easy to reload.
I have Vaqueros in 357/38, 44, and 32-20 (don't have a 45SA) and a lever...
1983 Remington Model Four, which is a variation of the Model 7400. It's a .30-06 with the barrel shortened and re-crowned. My wife and I will use it to hunt deer and pigs.
