    Most Treasured Firearm?

Mine is the SLR-95 that I inherited from my Father-in-Law when he passed away. I hang out with it on my couch, and have it slung on my back while cookin' burgers. :D It may not be old, uncommon, expensive, or high-tech, but Jim really wanted me to have it.... and if I hadn't gotten...

    Wife's/Young Son's First Elk Rifle?

I wouldn't hunt anything larger than deer with 7.62x39, even if it is a legal caliber for elk. And I didn't think it was legal to hunt with FMJs anywhere? There's a couple guys over at Gunboards who use 7.62x54R to take elk & bear (razorback too), and it seems to be a popular caliber for the...

    .380 autos

I'd say try the Bersa Thunder .380 or an FEG-AP9, which is the .380ACP version of the 9x18mm PA63. Other than the different caliber, the AP9 is the same as the PA63.

    Very Cool 1911 Grips

I was just browsing along eBay, and came across this store. I thought eBay didn't allow any sort of firearm components/parts to be sold anymore? Anyways, I don't have a 1911, but I figured some of ya'll here that do might be interested. :) The Crafter's Craftsman

    Mosin-Nagant user thread

I bought my first Mosin Nagant, a '34 Tula M91/30, last Jan. I didn't intend on getting any more, but after the first 5 shots I caught Mosinitis bad. My second, a '42 Izhevsk M38, was gotten a week later in an even-trade for a spare binos I had laying around. I started looking at M44s...

...and some of us adult males actually thought we were tactical

True.... but she still did a lot better than many of the guys did the last time we were stopwatched during a Sgt's Time Training.

    Wife's/Young Son's First Elk Rifle?

If it were my Wife/kids, I'd send 'em out with my good 'ol 7.62x54R Mosin Nagants.

    First AK advice

Why are they overpriced? Because stamped Yugo AKs can be had for $300? Why are they obsolete? Because milled Arsenal AKs aren't found with folding/collapsible stocks, optics rails, AK-74/Tantal/slant muzzle-brakes, dual-hook triggers?.... Oh.... wait. :scrutiny: Arsenal AKs w/ milled...

    Most Underappreciated Rifle Caliber

That the 7.62x54R isn't a more popular round doesn't surprise me much; it is after all a rimmed cartridge, and is basically a .30-06 equivalent... so why not just use the .30-06? Still, the 7.62x54R is my favorite rifle cartridge. Black Snowman brought up something that I've been thinking...

    We've got it good here!

    Milsurps 4-Sale - Spain $280.80 for a Mosin Nagant M44 (w/ special-edition see-thru bayonet!) $379.58 for an M91/30 or Steyr-Mannlicher M95 $421.95 for a Swiss K31 $661.79 for an M48  I don't even want to know how much ammo is.... I traded a cheap set of binos for my M38, and...

    First AK advice

I suggest finding an Arsenal milled-receiver AK, preferrably a SLR-95 or SLR-101B, which are out-of-production but can be found used (and soooo worth the search). Otherwise a new SA M-7A1 won't disappoint. I have an SLR-95B (post-ban), and it's more accurate & easy to shoot compared to many...

    S&W 10 Combat Revolver Project

Screw Duracoat, go for colored Durabak or Rhino-Liner.... it's grippy! Just wondering.... if the S&W Pro-shop is doing the bulk or all of the work, wouldn't it be a "full-custom" revolver rather than a "project" revolver.... or am I just splitting semantics? ;)

    Finally bought an AK.

Other than the ugly wood foregrip on the Romanian AKM, I've never seen any issues with them. Oh, if you're going to buy any surplus 30 & 40rd magazines, check the floorplate for damage. Soldiers like to use them as monopods. ;)
