Few years ago I was going to check the zero in my 700 .22-250. Had her in a lead sled, aligned it on the target and when I flicked the safety she went off. I'd heard they could do that, but discounted it as being more rare than it probably is. Replaced that thing with a Timney.
Scared the...
One of the AR's greatest strengths is that it's an inherently accurate design. One would be hard pressed to come up with a semi-auto that shot better.
Generally, they shoot on par with bolt action rifles.
C- Products Defense solved the magazine geometry years ago on the AR 7.62x39. I prefer their 20 rounders, and have never had any problems with them
I would rather have a AR in x39 over a domestic manufactured AK. Plus, the AR has a better safety and sights, and is much easier to add optics.
I have the Ruger American and several ARs in x39, love the caliber. Built the first AR years ago when the internets knew they could never work. :D All mine are extremely reliable.
In my opinion the blackouts only advantage is subsonics. The x39 American and most AR barrels have a 1/10 twist...
I have built a handful in this caliber. H2 buffer works great, on rifles that will have a suppressor on or off I used SLR adjustable gas blocks. I always put a RedX pin in this caliber. The stock hammer spring will fire most russian ammo but there are a few brands that have harder primers...
I built mine several years ago now and I've been impressed with it. I free floated a Sota arms barrel and have fed her nothing but steel case. She likes the 8m3 ammo the best, followed by the Brown Bear HP then 125 gr SP. Accuracy at 100 yards averages 1.5. Russian ammo will make a tight...
I'd go 6.8. There is a plethora of factory ammo to choose from, and it's reasonable. Just tonight I was reading on another board a new grendel shooter was lamenting ammo availability. He found choices very limited online, and all of that was sold out. He was told to stock up when he can. I...
In that case I would pick the AR due to its better ergonomics, accuracy, and ease of adding optics, etc. If the allowed lifetime rifle had zero replacement parts support- without a doubt, I'd choose the AK.
That is the silencer screwed onto the end of the barrel, with an appropriate sized drill rod extending out of the bore through the silencer, to show just how far the threading is off. The drill rod should be centered within the end off the silencer.
That is why it does not look like your...
I bought two of them, seem like nice rifles except for one thing. The barrel threading on the both of them are off, unsuitable for suppressor use. They are both at the smiths now getting the threads fixed.
Early ARs in this caliber had their teething problems, no doubt. (Hogged out 5.56 bolts, short firing pins, wrong gas port size, wrong feed ramps, and junk mags.)
Solutions were found, fixes were made, and time marched on. Awhile ago.
I vote AR too. I've built several for friends, and have a couple myself. Two inch groups are the norm shooting inexpensive russian, and that is counting the fliers. Never had a problem with mine, and they feed perfectly. C- Products Defense mags are bulletproof, I use the 20 rounders mostly...
