Another very fine Tommy Theis holster

It depends on which gun I'm carrying. Generally the larger weapons require more cant to make the grip lay along my side. On the BG38 holster, pictured in this thread, The cant built in by Tommy is sufficient so I wear using the holes pictured. With my PT709 I have the front screw in the...

Another very fine Tommy Theis holster

Ordered late in the evening of 15 July; delivered 22 July. Horsehide, perfect fit: $60.00 delivered. I know I sound enthusiastic, but to get a great product, at a great price, in a timely manner, is pretty rare. Jim

    Llama Omni parts

I have owned my .45 Omni since it was new in the early 80s. It functions beautifully and is very accurate. After many thousands of rounds there are some parts that could be replaced. I need a recoil spring and a barrel pin. A new set of grips would be nice also. If you happen to know of...

    Over 60 yrs old carry?

I'm 63 and a few months. Summer time in Phoenix I carry a Taurus PT 709 in a Tommy Theis IWB or a S&W Bodyguard 38 Spl. In the winter time I carry my 9X19 Cougar or my old LLama Omni in .45.

    always wondered

Thanks Vern, I was leaving out momentum, among other things. Your explanation is good. I graduated from class 6-13 at Snow hall, Ft. Sill, OK in June of 1966. I will remember Block House Signal Mountain forever. My first job was as a detached FO with the 11th air assault brigade in RVN...

    always wondered

Vern, It would appear to me that three bullets that are externally identical, in the same gravity well, in the same air density, will fall from rest, at the same speed. However, it's been nigh on 50 years since my last physics course so I need to think about it. In one of my previous lives I...

    always wondered

THplanes says: "Nonsense, the terminal velocity of a bullet, or any object, is dependent on the drag, sectional density, and air density. If you take 2 bullets with the same ogive and diameter, but with different sectional densities, the one with the higher sectional density will have a higher...

Do you care if you "print"?

I make all reasonable attempts to avoid printing, but don't worry about it very much. I mostly carry IWB with shirt out but sometimes tuck my shirt and blouse it to provide more concealment. I suspect most folks don't even notice a slight bulge if I momentarily show one. Most...

    Did you ever wish

Blue68f100 says: Nice work.. Actually, it's your work that is nice. You clearly know what you're doing. My holster is "serviceable." I'll get better with practice. Jim

    Did you ever wish

I agree that a well made leather holster is a thing of functional beauty. I admire the craftsmanship that goes into one. I feel I was lucky to find Old Faithful. I suspect I'll go on a "creative" binge and start putting Kydex on anything that will hold still. Forming this stuff is fun...

    Did you ever wish

that a holster would be available for a tired old pistol that you really want to carry sometimes? Well, my tired old pistol, bought new, is a mid 1980s Llama Omni. I have carried this weapon, literally, all over the world. It has never let me down. It is not, and never was, popular enough to...

    Favorite polymer pistol poll

I carry my PT709 every day. I have put several hundred, trouble free, rounds through it. It has yet to malfunction with any ammo (Federal, MagTech, WWB, Remington, Hornady) I have tried. It is light, flat, and easy to conceal. R/S Jim

Looked at possible CCW guns today...

I have to second harmon rabb. I also looked at, and fired, many of the pistols mentioned. Many of them were great, but the PT709 felt the best, had (in my opinion) the best trigger, and was plenty accurate for SD. It's worth a look. Jim
