Should I? Ruger MkII barrel recrowning...

If it was mine, I probably wouldn't change it. But if I was going to change it, I'd get the barrel threaded for a suppressor. It would be much more useful to me that way, but maybe that's just me.

    Class III Dealer SD

I live in Vermillion as well. So far I've used Jim Enga in Madison for all my NFA stuff, because he's a friend of my brothers and I've known him for years so I consider him a friend as well. Jim's a great guy, with good rates on NFA transfers, a few things in stock, and he has a 50-500yd range...

Finally held it in my hands...lol

If you want to talk about a long wait for a Form 3, my dealer just received my SBR a couple weeks ago after a 10 1/2 MONTH wait. I bought it from an out of state dealer on December 6th, 2010, and it made it to my dealer October 27th, 2011. I was less than impressed. I only hope the Form 4...

    Per capita Carry Permits?

It's possible that the reason 7% of South Dakotans have a permit is that, up until last year, having a permit meant you could bypass the 2 day waiting period when purchasing a handgun from a dealer. It was a good benefit compared to the cost of the permit ($10 for 4 years, and no training...

Why so difficult to get a CCW for Utah and Oregon

FWIW, Utah no longer requires that the application be notarized, even if you have an old form that says it needs to be. I called Utah BCI to confirm that before I sent mine in, and they said it wouldn't be an issue. They have great customer service at Utah BCI, BTW. I sent my application in...

Poll for C&R holders only: Have you been inspected by the ATF?

They inspected my book, but never asked to see any guns or evidence of guns, or any means of secure storage. I've had my C&R since April 2007.

C&R question: Has anyone had their "educational visit" from the ATF?

I've had a visit by the ATF earlier this year, after less than 2 years of having my C&R. The lady scheduled a meeting when I could be home to meet with her. She went over a bunch of rules, looked at my book, and gave me some books and papers of regulations and guidelines . All told it was...

    Cabelas Used Guns

Some of Cabela's prices are high, but like others have said, you can always ask for a better price. If you know what the gun is worth, offer that, or slightly lower. The worst that can happen is that they'll say no. It helps to talk to someone who works in the gun library, because they are...

My Bank restricts the use of firearms within the building.

Gas stations get robbed often as well, should I leave gun at home before I get gas? A bank is the same as any other business, no reason to disarm just because you're going into one. I don't recommend open carrying into a bank, or most other places, but if you're concealing it correctly...

My Bank restricts the use of firearms within the building.

So you can't carry your cellphone or sunglasses in the bank either? Seems like you just can't wear the sunglasses or talk on your cell phone, but you can carry your gun, just don't "use" it while in the bank. I know when I'm at the bank I'm always tempted to set up some steel...

    Compact Discs As Targets

I haven't shot CD's, but I've shot a bunch of DVD's, so I suppose that counts. I found that the slower the bullet, the more the disc shatters. Faster bullets tend to go right through, just punching a hole. Slower bullets take out larger chunks. .22LR from a pistol went straight through...

    NICS question

I'm not an attorney, but I believe NICS checks are based on what you're convicted of, not what you're charged with. My guess is that she'll pass with no problem. I've heard of people having trouble with domestic violence charges holding up their NICS check, but I suppose anything's...

How long to get C&R renewal after credit card charged?

I received mine exactly 90 working days after they cashed my check. That was a couple years ago, but it took a long time to get it.

Wrecked My Motorcycle Today: CCW Still Intact

I was in an accident on my bike last summer. I had my Kel-tec .380 in my back pocket in a cheap Nemesis holster. My knees got pretty scraped up, as did my wrists, my front pocket tore open and my work keys were gouged by the pavement, but the gun was fine. I didn't even think about it...

    Sportsmens Warehouse

I'm disappointed that they're closing the Sioux Falls store. I always liked Sportsman's Warehouse. There's also a Scheels in Sioux Falls, as well as a large local gun shop, and a Cabela's an hour away. I guess I'm not too surprised, since it's not a huge market here, but it's still sad.
