    Trigger Taurus revolver?

.22 mag revolvers are notorious for heavy DA triggers. The reason is that the .22 magnum cartridge operates at higher pressure than the .22LR. The cases are made heavier to stand up to the pressure. Because it is a rimfire, heavier case equals tougher primer. It takes a heavier mainspring to...

Finally bought a revolver and I hate it

Hey, I'll go seventy-five! Seriously, my Taurus 606 (6 shot 2" .357) has a set of grips that fit my hands so well that inside ten yards hitting what I am looking at is actually pretty easy.

Cylinder: rounds not seating all the way (PIC)

+1 for Archangel's suggestion. If you handload, you might even flare the case mouth slightly on the .357 case so it is a little tighter in the chamber. Scrapes the ring right out!

    Revolver bite

Sounds like you shoot with your weak hand thumb pointed straight ahead. The flash from the cylinder gap is extremely high pressure, and if your thumb is alongside the gap, it will cut you! If you have ever watched revolver shooters in metallic sillouette matched use the "Creedmore" position...

    .44 Alaskan Binding

Last time I used Unique, I noticed it was pretty dirty. Newer revolvers have much closer B/C gaps than they did 20 years ago. Maybe its just carbon buildup on your cylinder face and forcing cone. Switching to a cleaner powder may be the solution.

    Single Action....?

When I get out and about in the woods, I carry my 4-5/8" Super Blackhawk. Incidentally, the only documented case of a man successfully killing an Alaska grizzly in self defense with a handgun occurred last fall. A Fairbanks moose hunter and his partner were attacked by Mr. Bear. One shot...

    Breaking into longer range shooting

Service Rifle shooters compete regularly with AR-15's out to 600 yards. 200 yards it what they shoot from the standing position! Find a CMP affiliated club in your area. They will probably have match grade AR's to loan for matches. Try it out. It will thoroughly humble and embarrass you...

    AR-15 in the Water

On leaving the water, the Rangers and Seals will point the muzzle down and retract their bolts slightly to break the surface tension of the water in the barrel and allow it to drain out. Firing an M16 (or any other high powered rifle) with a bore full of water can raise chamber pressures way...

Ruger Super Blackhawk .44: Dry-fire with plastic rim okay?

The only purpose that the plastic ring is supposed to serve is as an empty chamber indicator. With the white or yellow ring in place, it is instantly apparent to the Ruger factory people that the weapon has been cleared and there there are no cartridges left over from the proof test loaded.

    Buckshot/birdshot in a 45/70?

Have the chamber reamed to accept .456 Wild West Magnum (which might be dimensionally the same as the .45-90) and then you can load .410 shells in the chamber when you have the need. Just the ticket for the occasional bunny, squirrel or quail, while on an extended big game hunt.

    .357 / .38 Noob Question

Once upon a time... Smith & Wesson's .38 caliber cartridge had an outside lubricated bullet (similar to a .22 LR) which made bullet diameter and case diameter the same. The bullet's base was rebated to fit into the case mouth. Barrel groove diameter was also .38" - .40". This was a black...

    Maybe heading to Alaska

7 Mag will work just fine. The BIG Brown bears are coastal residents. In the interior they are just large:) You will not be able to hunt until you have been here a year, unless you want to spend the big bucks on a non-resident permit, as well as paying for a guide for big game. After a...
