200+ yard ranges in AR, OK, TX, MO, or TN?

Gibson's Gun Range, on Lawson Road, in Mesquite, Texas. I believe it has about 4 slots for 200 yard range. It's south of I-30 and Highway 80, but north of I-20. Mesquite is about 13 miles east of Dallas. I don't have a phone number or I'd give it to you.

    TSA Carry-On Baggage Rules

Folks, it's all about liability. Our nation, has become a nation of people suing to cover expenses for everything, when no one is at fault. Face it, the lives that were lost in the WTC was terrible. But, why did our government pay any of the victims families anything? To prevent someone from...

    What should I have done?

Yesterday evening, the little boy from two houses down, came down with one of those airsoft pistols. It shoots bb's and I could hear them rattling inside. This boy is 9 years old. My grandson is 7. My grandson has seen my guns, and he knows, (as much as any 7 yr old knows), to leave them...

    Watched 'Jarhead' last night

The book is better. The book and the movie don't resemble each other. I was a little disappointed with the movie. It still had way too much Hollywood drama. As for entertainment purposes, it was fine. Not one I'll watch over and over, like "We Were Soldiers", "Saving Private Ryan", etc.

Things that keep you hunting year after year

What I love about huntin' The day waking up. Listening for the first bird to chirp in the morning. Clear crisp morning, a buck easing down the side of a draw. Seeing his breath in two snorts from his nostrils. Spending time with my son when he was young, sitting in the stand, wrapped up in...

    M1 Garand ammo

Okay, so modern hunting cartridges are too "hot" for the M-1. Makes sense. That's what I needed to know. Thanks. One more question: With CMP, what grade is best for a "nice" shootable weapon?

    M1 Garand ammo

I'm curious. I've been contemplating getting an M-1 from CMP. M-1 Garand is 7.62, right? Isn't that a 30-06? Can regular Remington 30-06 ammo that you'd use for hunting, be used in an M-1 Garand?? If not, what are the reasons? Don't be hard on me, I'd just like to know.

Have you ever accidently discharged in your house or apartment?

Not in the house. Knock on wood,(my head for one), the only AD I've had was when I was 15 (I'm 48 now)and rabbit huntin with my BIL. I had an old Mossberg 20 gauge, bolt action, with 2 round magazine and adjustable screw on choke. (It's since been stolen). Anyway, I couldn't remember if...

    The Chamber Check - WHY?

Everytime I pick up one of my guns, I always check it. Drop the mag out out pull the slide, reload, and I've refreshed my mind to what I have. With the revolver, I always open the gate, rotate and count each one, looking to make sure there's not one with a dented primer. When it's on my side...

    Ever have a brainfart?

This may be a little long. Sorry. Quite a few years ago, my brother and I went deer hunting on public hunting land here in Texas. It was about 15,000 acres. We had our packs, canteens, all sorts of gear that we'd hike out with. We'd normally hike for about an hour to two hours out, up and...

    My apologies

Nash has apologized. He did it face to face to Jim. He admitted to lying. So now all of his posts are gonna be scrutinized by most if not all. At some point in time, Nash will regain some of our trust and be back in good standing. But that will take some time, and everyone's time is...

    Texas Ranch House on PBS

I think PBS is doing the show exactly the way they want it to be. They are not trying to make this show historically correct for the "period". They are giving a brief example of what life was like back then, using modern folks who "romanticize" that period, that it was not as much fun as it...

    Ear damage from shooting indoors.

I was in the military, and although I wasn't in any combat, I did go through combat training at Camp Bullis. During our live fire exercises, with simulated bombs and mortars, when I cut loose with the M-60, my hearing went and didn't come back for almost a day. I've hunted most of my life, and...
