Hopefully on April 29th I will be out in the wilds with my TC Black Mountain Magnum 12 guage percussion shotgun. It is a beauty to carry and so far I have taken one gobbler with it.
Maybe this week I shall do some pratice with it.
I am shocked and saddened at this event but I am sickened by what NBC has just done.
They stated that the bombs were made with smokeless gunpowder which is readily available at sporting goods stores.
Makes me sick. So the issue of how this will impact us is very cogent.
I read where Winchester is coming out with a super version of the 17 rimfire magnum. If so, I am hoping that they will have some ammo and the prototypes out at the SHOT SHOW.
The vast majority of my muzzleloader hunting involves using a treestand or sitting on the ground in a stationary position. I carry a Storey Pole Cat mono pod for a rest. I like the ability of the device to collapse and put away in my day pack. I take it out when I am sitting or in a stand.
Ages ago I belonged to a group called Handgun Hunters International which produces a newspaper magazine called The Sixgunner. I recall a story about a Maine hunter using a ROA on deer during the regular season.
I read through the entire thread on making that unique striker fired muzzleloading rifle. I am impressed and envious. I wish I had that ability at hand to create a work of art that actually works.
Maybe I am an oddball but I would have constructed a vertical post for a pistol grip ala...
I bought this several years ago. It shoots very well and right now I am shooting a 240 grain sabot at 1705 fps on average from a 14 inch barrel and 90 grains of H777 in 3f granulation.

About three weeks ago my wife and I went to the Poconos for a four day vacation of sorts. We had a great time and the focus of the vacation was for my wife and her enjoyment. After all, hunting season is around the corner.
While I was there I did see quite a few deer, when compared to what I...
I am not sure if this is the right part of the forum but it is ammunition related.
The other day I took off to the range and decided to play with my new chronograph. I am an avid handloader and my intention is to collect data on my handloads as well as some of my muzzleloading guns but it is...
It is a .50 caliber barrel. Believe it or not I had taken two wild boar in Florida with it. On that trip I did not have the folder on but a Pachmayer grip. It was fun to hunt with.
I'd like a clear answer if possible regarding whether or not I can hunt in New York State with this type of muzzleloader.
Ok. I do realize some traditionalist will cringe and run to have a shot of some whiskey or other favorite distilled beverege while some will say, wow that is neat...
Very interesting. Although I have never participated in SASS type events I never heard of a bear event, so to speak. It looks like everyone was having a wonderful time.
