    Hi-power grips

Craig Spegel Custom Grips. If I remember correctly, they are Delrin. I purchased them over15 years ago. All the other components (i.e. Hammer, Trigger, Slide Release, Mag Release, Ambidextrous Safety and Night Sights came from Cylinder and Slide.

    9mm 1911 ,who would want one ?

I love my 1911's, and actually won one, in 9mm, in a raffle. Shot it a few times, and promptly sold it. There is no comparison to shooting my Browning HiPower. The BHP shot more accurately and had a higher capacity.

    10mm 1911

I love my Delta Elite Gold Cup and have never had a problem with the unsupported chamber. My favorite 1911 in 10mm is my Springfield Armory Range Officer Elite Operator. I paid $1200 for mine.

    Dream revolver

I have had Colt, S&W & Dan Wesson big bore, DA revolvers and though they were all good, When I saw the advertisement for Ruger's new Redhawk I fell in love. I went down to my LGS and put my name on the waiting list for one when they started arriving. I asked for the 7.5" barrel length with the...

Anybody familiar with the Vortex SPARC Red Dot?

Hokkmike, I had no problems at all. Yes, I used the bracket that comes with the sight. At that height I can co-witness the irons through the red dot. I think if I ever decide to change, I will go with the McCarbo flip up sight base.

    125 gr cast for deer

savagelover, I've been handgun hunting for over 40 years, 10 of which were using a .357mag, an 8" scoped Colt Python to be exact. One thing you have to remember is that a handgun load will never have the terminal impact that you get from a rifle load. That being said, you will never gain that...

Think shotguns will ever be "cool" again?

I guess that depends on your definition of "cool".

    My MOST MEMORABLE shot.

I have been handgun hunting for 3 decades and have taken a lot of game, usually between 50-75 yards. I was gifted a hunt on a high fenced lease west and just a little north of Austin. There were 5 of us from the company I was working for that went and I took my favorite scoped Stainless Ruger...

    go to home defense weapon

I have a fully loaded 1911 in every room of the house, and even though we no longer have any young'uns running around, each one is in an easy to get into, and hidden gun safe style box securely anchored in such a way that it would take some considerable effort to steal them. Any of them will...

What makes a good "defensive" levergun?

This is my Henry Big Boy in my favorite caliber of .41mag. It has a 16" barrel as it is considered a carbine. The action is slick as glass and it is very accurate. In the .41mag caliber, with theytupe of bullets I shoot in it, over penetration is not really a concern like it would be with my 30-30.

anybody care to recommend a holster for CC of a SW 686+ 3"?

thunderbryd, Actually, in my opinion, it is extremely comfortable with the right holster and correct type of belt to carry the load. There are several styles out there but the one I prefer is one like the one in the picture because it spreads out the load and wraps around the body. I don't care...

anybody care to recommend a holster for CC of a SW 686+ 3"?

Either you didn't state what mode of carry you are looking for (IWB or OWB), or I missed it, but I have a Ruger GP-100 with a 3" barrel that I carry IWB in a Tucker Holster very comfortably. The GP-100 and the 686 are very similar in size. Here is mine.

Small 380 with Hammer, External Safety and works DA/SA?

This is my wife's Walther PK-380. It has been her favorite gun for almost a decade and she is surgically accurate with it. When she took her Texas CHL she was tearing a ragged hole in the paper target. The administrator asked her to spread around her shots because he had to make sure all 50...
