    New Remington R51 - 3913 killer?

Fastbolt, my guess as to why the original Model 51 pistol went by the wayside is manufacturing costs. An original 51 is a work of art, and would probably cost upwards of 3K to manufacture to the same standards today in this country.

    New Remington R51 - 3913 killer?

I went to two gun shops here in San Antonio, and no one knew anything about these! Makes me wonder a little about Remington's PR/Advertising guys. I had to show the salesmen the pistol on the internet. The purchasing manager (after I worked my way up from the salesman) at the first shop...

    No more imported ammo.

Yup. This was old news. March 8th dated executive order. We would be all over this if this was so. DO NOT start false rumors.

Texas - Concealed Carry and the Educator

According to the law in Texas (I am from there originally, lived there 30 + years) you cannot have your gun on school grounds. That includes the parking lot. They are "gun free" zones for you, mister law abiding citizen.

Premier San Antonio Gun Show (13-14 Oct 2012)

Enjoy going! I'm from San Antonio originally, now stationed in Massacrapsetts with the air force. Fondle some guns for me, guys! I had to leave all of my stuff behind at my relatives place in San Antonio when I was moved. Four years with no guns is a drag.

Guns you wish you never got rid of

Too many... <sniff> A Mas 49/56 in .308 that I spent months finally getting to run right, then sold. A cherry Hakim rifle. A cherry FN-49 in 8mm. A mint S&W Model 13. A mint S&W Model 15 with a 2" barrel. A beautiful Webley Mark VI in .455. Probably the one I miss most though was a Remington...

    Which one would you keep?

Ahh.... good points everyone. I have a feeling the 581 will be harder to replace down the road. If the 581 were minty I would keep it hands down over the 65... Unfortunately, I've had to take a lotta time off from work as of late as my wife suffered a prolapsed cervix and I am being Mr Mom to...

    Which one would you keep?

This would be mainly for a house gun and range toy, occasionally riding in the console of my truck, and even more rarely being carried around some property my family has in south east Texas.

    Which one would you keep?

I have a Smith model 65 with a 4 inch barrel that is mint, and a Smith model 581 with a 4 inch barrel that was probably carried by somebody for a decade or more, and it shows. I gotta get rid of one, but I'm torn. Which would you keep and why?

I thought the AR-15 WAS the fad? <ducking>

How is century still in business ?

Mas 49/56 Conversions..... Wow. They butchered these guns in so many ways. I bought one even after hearing how bad they were thinking they couldn't be that bad. They are. Mine has required a lot of modification and repair to work correctly, most newbs would never get that far, they'd just have...
