Choice be AR an Mini 14

The stainless mini-14 is also known as the AC556 and was used by South American countries over 25 years ago.

    1000 yard sendero ultra mag

I'd focus on the optics first. I'd get an EGW 10 to 20 minute one piece mount with Burris XTR rings. You can overboard and spend much more. Zak also had a good breakdown on quality scopes, search it. You can't go wrong with IOR, Nightforce, US Optics, or Zeiss- or sell a kidney and get the...

$1000 birthday budget, give me ideas.

You might be able to pick up a used Savage LRPV, or look on the classified boards at benchrest.com and 6mmbr.com. Go for the long range tactical rifle class in F-class competitions. Otherwise, you'd just compete against benchrest shooters on their bellies.

When will prices go back to normal?

This continued recession with free up some of the "hoarded" supplies and firearms. Also, even though Obama claims to not increase firearms purchase restrictions, like Clinton and daddy Bush, congress is run by a Democrat majority from highly populated states like New York, Mass. and California...

    FNH PS90 Crop Top v2.2

Having owned one, I can assure that the PS90 really doesn't deserve any more love. I also had a local machinist mill down the crappy sight mount and install a 1913 rail. Should have kept my boat anchor of a G3K3 clone instead.

    CCW Run Around

Can you get your prints approved from a QuickScan facility? It's like a computer scanner for fingerprints and the FBI should get them turned around in under 3 weeks. Who knows. Someone might have spilled coffee on your prints, or your application envelope got a little rain-soaked enroute.

Guns captured on the way to Mexico (video)

The 5.7x28 would fall into the cartridges permissible for importation into Mexico assuming that it isn't a widely militarized cartridge like the 5.56 NATO. Most gringos I've met usually go in with a .38 special and hide it. Probably don't need much firepower if you're going to sneak up on a...

    Ammo is all out!

Wal-Mart is also a negotiations PITA for suppliers. I'd bet that the ammo companies just decided to stop haggling and send most of their ammo shipments to other sporting goods chain stores.

.357 SIG in an STI Trojan 5.0?

I'd recommend the .38 if you're into handloading. Since it's an older round, it's a versatile cartridge that's quite forgiving. .357 Sig sacrifices another round in the mag. You can get a 9x23 barrel reamed so that it chambers both .38 Super and 9x23 win without a problem.

Small .45. cant make up my mind

Just picked up my new RIA tactical compact and highly recommend it. It's like a Colt New Defender with Novak sights.

    Tribune recommends that Chicago surrender

Chicago is quite a corrupt city. Those of you who were around in the mid-90's might remember the El Rukn corruption scandal. The El Rukns managed to literally buy off quite a few CPD, Cook County Sheriff's, and even a few judges to allow the continual existence of their franchise. Just the...

For all the Long Range 6.5mm/.260 guru's

You need to find a nearby benchrest or F-Class club in France and convince a few members to check out your action and barrel. Perhaps you can have an experienced third party look over your rig for anything that may seem suspicious. Then, you'd have better justification when you go back to your...

    Looking for another 38 super

You need a 'square' grip to comfortably shoot the pt-38. It's cool for up close personal defense, and can shoot with a reasonable rate of accuracy with very light bullets, but I'd rather wrap my fingers around something else. Once I sell my USPc. 45 in a stainless slide, I might check out...

    would you buy a PT1911

I have a bad impression from Taurus' incompetent customer service. I'd rather jump on a STI chambered in .38 Super Auto.

    .222 Remington with super-heavy bullet?

I used a compressed load of 26.5 gns of BL-C on a surplus 62 gn BTHP bullet out to 700 yards with an average accuracy of 8" off of a sandbag rest w/ my antique benchrest rifle. This is with a 1 in 9" twist, so I can't let you in on the heavy VLD performance stats. Go to the 6mmbr.com or...
