I'm not a cop but I know quite a few. Glock 19 or 36 seems the most popular. Kahr k or p 9 and 40 is growing in popularity as a back up gun. It's great for concealed carry.

I think they designed the 4" smith 500 just for this scenario. Of course I prefer a 12 ga with slugs and 00 buck alternating from my remington marine magnum! With 8 shots I can put about 100 holes in just about anything that moves. Sure beats a 6 shooter any day.

I've got one that's ported. Recoil isn't bad at all. It groups about 1 1/2" at 30 feet. The only problem with mine is that it shoots low and right about 4 inches. I haven't gotten around to sending back to taurus to have the sights fixed. It does have a lifetime warranty that's transferable...

One more thought about hi cap 45's. The glock is more reliable and lighter to carry than a 1911. You just have to get past the feel of a plastic gun. A glock 36 makes a nice carry gun with 12 round capacity with a pierce extension.

Not to get to far off the subject. I have taken cosmoline coated guns to my buddies garage and used his parts washer to clean up the metal parts. Much quicker and easier than a hand cleaning!!

Any 22 revolver will work right or left handed. H&K lefties are the easiest to find used. Try Albert Tridenti at [email protected] as he had a used one for under $500. I have bought a number of items from him with no problems.
