    smith 15 advise

I wish to purchase a revolver especially for idpa. I have come across a S&W 15-2 which appears to be unused. The one area of concern is the little spring-loaded thing that goes into the notches on the cylinder. Sometimes it allows the cylinder to spin ala the "Russian Roulette" thing. When...

    S&W 586 4 inch for idpa?

I have a Smith 586 in 6 inch which is, of course, not allowed in Idpa by virtue of barrel length. My revolver weighs 48 oz. and I don't think lopping two inches off the barrel would get it under the 42 oz. limit. Does anyone know the exact weight of a 4 inch 586?

My Deal of a Lifetime: What was YOURS?

sorry, nothing to do with guns, but about 40 yrs ago a minister, son of very wealthy parents offered me a 1950's mercedes gullwing that was burning oil for $100. My mother would not allow it.That car is worth about a million today.

    round or square butt

I have a S&W 586 that has, I believe Hogue grips on it. There is one screw at the bottom holding them on. I don't care for the sort of squishy feeling and would prefer the Pachmyr feel. Optics planet has some at reasonable prices but I'm not sure of the difference in butt type.

Would a J frame snubbie be more concealable than my Bersa .380?

I carry 642 with the 305 crimson trace grips. In front pocket, all day without even noticing. If myshirt were tucked in, a person, at just the right angle might get a glimpse of something black, so I wear it out.I can draw, get the laser on target and fire in well under 2 sec

    642 Club Part Three

I've got the Crimson trace 305 as well and they do help. The beaten up trigger finger is addressed over the past few days on another thread. I recently bought a S&W mod 60 as a gun to practice with. It's very versatile and lots of carry over for my EDC 642.

    Snubby biting my trigger finger

I know a least in my case, it had nothing to do with sharp anything, as it was cumulative. After about 30 rounds of the bottom inside of the trigger guard smacking my trigger finger, right at the last joint, it wore through the skin. I now employ a gorilla grip, even to where the gun shakes a...

    Snubby biting my trigger finger

I was having exactly the same problem with my 642. I actually saw the blood inside the trigger guard , just about where the trigger is at rest. It is definitely a recoil issue. I came up with a different handhold that not only cured the problem but allowed the attached group [the red is about an...
