    CNN Gun control poll

As of today, 8 June, this poll is still running. We have apparently stopped voting, because it is now 52% NO and 48% YES.

A poll to hit from Newsmax

Here is a poll from Newsmax to hit. Newsmax is a conservative news organization that has placed the poll in many media sites, as far as I can tell. It DOES ask for your e-mail address, but that may be a small price to pay for getting our opinions known...

    Yet another poll to hit

Here's a poll from Minneapolis/St Paul, visited by Obama today. It's looking good, so far, but let's make it a major win. http://kstp.com/news/stories/s2919339.shtml

We need to watch and challenge the data!

According to the Jan 28 issue of Time magazine, there were 18,253 gun homicides in 1993 and 11,101 gun homicides in 2011. That is a 39% drop in gun homicides. In 1993 there were 18,940 gun suicides and 19,766 in 2011. This is a 4% increase. Gun deaths from all causes, including...

Repair of old Case pocket knife

Well, TimboKhan, this knife is not worth a lot. In fact, I saw a new one, in the box, for less that $150. To spend potentially that much and end up with a used knife was not attractive to me. But if I can get a functional knife for $36, I'll jump at the chance. I had seen examples of Muskrat...

Repair of old Case pocket knife

Well, in the end I decided to give Muskrat Man a try. I sent him a picture and description of the knife. He said new blades were no longer available but that he had some old ones in good shape. $36 total, including return postage, so I jumped on it. The knife came back today with old but...

Repair of old Case pocket knife

Actually, 451 Detonics, I think your advice to sell it is good. It is a 92 pattern, and I really don't think I want to sink $150+ into it. Thanks to all for your advice.

Repair of old Case pocket knife

No they won't. I sent them a photo of the knife and they said, "Based on the picture you provided, the knife is a discontinued pattern and we no longer have parts for repair. Missing parts are not covered by our warranty. I am sorry we cannot help you at this time."

Repair of old Case pocket knife

I have a discontinued model of Case 2-blade knife that was called a Texas jack, about 4 inches long. Both blades are missing, as is the pin holding them in. Case says they cannot repair it. I believe the pattern is 92. Does anyone know of a place or person who might be able to repair this...

Bullets / Ammo That Lose Most of Their Energy (Velocity) In a Few Yards

AntiSpin has some good thoughts, but keep this in mind if we are going to depend on air resistance to slow down our bullet. Drag varies with the CUBE of the velocity, so the force slowing down the bullet will be greatest at the muzzle and very quickly decrease. We need the opposite in this...

    Would it be practical?

You can use up energy with all kinds of extra motion inside the gun, but if the bullet and gases go straight out the front, the exact amount of momentum is going to move the gun straight back. Mass times velocity of the bullet, etc., equals the mass times velocity of the gun. You can’t fight...
