Can you reach the controls on your handgun without adjusting your grip?

I learned to shoot on single action revolvers. You couldn't even FIRE the gun without doing SOMETHING with your grip. Or use a second hand. Then double action revolvers. Good luck reloading without changing one's grip! Honestly, when I'm carrying, I don't carry a spare magazine. Heck, I used to...

Is the Glock magazine holding it back?

I was debating getting a Ruger Security 9 Compact. Have the full size version. But then I took some measurements. The Security 9 is often touted as 1.02 inches wide...but that is at the slide. I get 1.16 just below the slide. Glock 27 is 1.02 at the slide and 1.16 just below the slide. Hmmm...

    best 380 defense load?

I'm not a cop or the FBI (thank goodness). When I was in the military, I carried an M9. And a rifle. But I'm long retired and Arizona isn't Iraq or Afghanistan. I almost always carry either my S&W 38, Glock 42 (380) or Glock 27 (40 S&W). In the extremely unlikely event that I need to shoot, my...

Have striker fired autos taken over?

My normal carry, depending on the day and where I'm going and what I'm wearing: Glock 27, Glock 42, or S&W Model 60 (J-frame). It is the J-frame at least half of the time. Not a lot of bad hombres hanging around the hardware store or the tack & feed store at 9 AM! The only time I've pulled a...

    Glock 26.5

I've mostly carried revolvers. I recently bought a Glock 42 as something small I could carry with better sights than my J-frames. But I had bought a Glock 27 years ago and mostly left it sitting in the closet. Took it out when I went to the range to try the 42...and odd as it seems, I find...

If carrying a .380: Which One?

I recently bought a Glock 42 for when I want a light/small gun to carry. It kind of surprised me. I was planning on buying a Sig 365 but the Glock felt better in my hand. Had it for a week and finally got to the range. Ate everything without an issue. The 7 round flush mag (aftermarket) fed...

Guess we know who won the micro 9 battle ;) PSA Ruger MAX 9 on clearance 7/25/2023 $269.

LC9 has been around since 2011 and evolved (because most people don't like DA trigger pulls) into the LC9s & EC9s. Still selling. LCP variants (I still used the plain LCP) have been around and selling since 2008. Nothing wrong with updating models from time to time. The micro-9s may have a...

Why all the craze of single stacks ?

I've got no hips to hold my pants up. A better belt doesn't help much since I don't have hips for the belt to ride on. Suspenders work but I don't really like suspenders. So while I've tried carrying my Beretta 92 all day, what works best is an LC9. Or my J-frame. I've always found a revolver...

    New Ruger Security 9 Compact

I like my LCP. After a couple months of carrying, I like my $200 EC9s. But I like hammer fired guns more than strikers. For pleasure, I like revolvers. I like my Beretta 92 alright, but it will never replace a good revolver. For me. But if this gun carries anything like my cheap EC9...I might...

38 Special vs 357 Magnum - Snub Nose

I use a Pachmayr grip on my J-frame 357. If I have a wooden grip, I use 38s. Not a problem shooting 50-75 rounds of 357 if the grip is big enough and rubber.

    New to Me Beretta Pico

I've got a Pico and an LCP. The Pico shoots better - better sights and less recoil. Feels more awkward to me, but I hit what I aim at better. I mostly shoot revolvers and believe a firm trigger pull is desirable. I hate CCW guns with a light trigger pull. I always use two hands changing a...

When is a barrel too short for a .357 magnum?

Another approach would be to ask what the minimum GRIP size is for shooting 357. For me, a thick, rubber Pachmayr pistol grip makes a Model 60 a .357 revolver. But my 649 uses a much smaller DeSantis Clip Grip, and it is a 38 Special gun. I've fired 357 out of it and suspect 357 would work fine...

    Beretta 92fs from PSA

I have small hands and I like mine. The indentation helps compared to the gun I used in the military 10 years ago. Not fond of it DA, but it is OK. Mine has a nice SA trigger - and it is easy to reach. Mine is the compact. It is roughly 8" long. Height is 5.0 inches except for the 0.25 pinkie...

What would be the SAO or DA/SA equivalent of the P-238?

That is me. I understand millions have done so safely for longer than I've been alive...but it freaks me out. Pity, since in every other way I really like the 238...

Taurus PT 92 vs Glock type pistol designs reliability w/ overgrease & reloads

No problems racking or shooting my 92. But then, I do what I was taught in the military: keep it clean, a little oil, use standard ammo. IIRC, Beretta's manual says to LIGHTLY OIL the slide and rail. Not grease, vasoline, the wife's hair gel, etc. I use wimpy ammo in my S&W Model 29. J-frames...
