LOL. Can anyone say Lance Corporal underground?

So what rifles are being used in Iraq and Afghanistan?

"Anybody going to ever admit anything about the chemical warheads? Just had to ask!" Yeah a few were found. But they were really old. If there were any new ones you can bet that they were moved out during the six months of inspections and buildup.

So what rifles are being used in Iraq and Afghanistan?

"Ours are all M16A1 receivers -- most of the SPRs I've seen and handled are Colt lowers, though I've seen one H&R lower. I'd suspect that Crane may have switched over to M4A1 lowers as the demand and build rate went up." Could be. Not sure, I can only speak to what we use. "Was that...

So what rifles are being used in Iraq and Afghanistan?

"Our MK12s are NOT M4 lowers but old A1 lowers that are then built into the MK12s." I would be interested to know who you mean by "our MK12s" The ones we are using are M4A1 lowers as indicated in the TM. There are a few different variations in use, so other contingents within SOCOM are using...

So what rifles are being used in Iraq and Afghanistan?

"The only 5.56 Designated Marksman Rifle I know of that is called as such is the Marine Corps M16A4 with a Tijicon ACOG scope. These are loaded with 62 grain M855 ammunition. The Army is still issuing M14 rifles for Designated Marksman use. These are loaded with 168 grain or 173 grain match...

So what rifles are being used in Iraq and Afghanistan?

"What's the deal with the 5.56mm Designated Marksman Rifle? We have the M4 and M16A4 filling the role of combat weapons and the M110 and modernized M14 filling the role of designated marksman rifles. Why have a 5.56mm DMR when you can use the M110, modernized M14, or even the M16A4 with a...

    What happens when...

"Scuse me?" I was responding to this statement. "It ain't the money so much as the availability. Ammunition is dryin' up. What's in the pipelines now is sellin' like there won't be any left by next month...and if the panic buying continues...there won't be." You were putting it off as if...

    What happens when...

Oh BS! Ammo has gone up because the price of everything else has gone up. Its not like we are going to run out of lead or copper. Demand has gone up, so price has gone up.

    What happens when...

"What? Cops don't do anything except work and spend time with the wife-mate and chillun? No golf? No fishin'? No Sunday afternoon football?" So now you are saying that cops should have no time off? Next I guess you are going to suggest that everyone works 24-7 365. What kind of hissy fit would...

    What happens when...

"Nope. I'm talkin' about doin' it on their own time. I know lotsa cops who reload on their own time at home. The only difference is that their components and equipment is free. And...It's Tuner. No "R" there." I don't know about you. But I would imagine that after working 4 12 hour days...

My own desert o' truth. 9mm ammo test.

"As far as my quote about the major manufacturers, I'm still wondering. I thought I heard Hornady. I didn't hear of any others that were familiar to me. The biggest of course are Remington, Federal, Winchester. Have they engaged in live animal testing of their ammo?" Not to my knowledge.

    What happens when...

Turner, you are still talking about paying man hours to reload. Man hours cost money, likely more than simply buying the ammo. And the time they spend reloading their own on department equipment, they could be out policing.

Pro Gun Argument: Id rather be shot than stabbed, bombed, gassed or burned?

Maybe. But even in the hands of a trained person, you can take serious damage from a superior opponent. Even in the hands of a person trained to an average standard. The firearm levels the playing field significantly. Look at the stats my friend.

    What happens when...

Yup, and you do not want some idiot that does not know what he is doing reloading it for you, so you will have to offer quality pay to get quality people. They said 39,000 for ammo. How many people would it take to reload that much ammo? Salaries alone may be more than their cost of ammo...

My own desert o' truth. 9mm ammo test.

[qutoe]I can see where you're coming from with your last argument. I guess where I'm coming from is this: if you had a brother on deathrow (heaven forbid obviously, but stay with me), would you rather he die by lethal injection, or get a gutshot, and then be dispatched afterwards? My view is, if...
