Update:
Just sent it off today. Had some doubts about the post office regs, but turns out shipping just a cylinder assembly is fine. It's not a 'firearm' unless you are sending the frame I guess.
Still curious to know if anyone has had this done, and if so what a good .45 ACP 'range...
Are you looking for wood grips or rubber/synthetic grips?
This guy has a video and it looks like he's using maybe Hogue grips (didn't listen to video) and doing a little work to make them fit on a Rossi .38 special:

..and in the THR archives...
I've got a non-factory conversion Taylor & Co .45 LC conversion cylinder for my Remington 1858 (Pietta). I love it, never had a misfire yet using Magtech .45 Colt (Cowboy Action).
Only issues I've ever had with it:
1) It can be a little tricky to remove/insert the cylinder at the firing range...
I came across this lady a while back when I was looking for grips. I have a 'source' for exotic wood and was looking for people who could take raw wood and make whatever I wanted:

I noticed she seemed to be very centered and capable on making grips for women (since...
As I understand it, Nagant is a Belgium company and Belgium is a country that holds all of their corps to high standards FWIS.
I will say that I have fired several hundred thousand rounds from multiple FN Herstal M240C's and when I treated them right they never jammed, and of course I'm still...
It's a rare piece but still... it's only worth $1200 for the fact that it's a Colt Diamondback, not for the fact that's it's a .38 Special revolver. Yes, it's worth it. It'll last 300 yrs. if you treat it right.
As a former M1A1 tank gunner... I can say:
1) 120MM Smoothbore Sabot M829 120mm, APFSDS-T: Approx. 15 lb tungsten-coated depleted-uranium core at Mach 4.6 energy unknown
2) .454 Casull Buffalo Bore 250 Grain XPB Lead Free HP Bullet 1750 fps and 1604 ft/lbs at the muzzle
Costwise, I'd look at...
Can't go too wrong with a Colt. Congrats. My stepdad used to go to his 'professional' poker sessions with a .38 Special DS and his fellow players always understood that if he wanted to count his money, sitting at the table, then they should just go ahead and let him.
I'm about to send off my .454 Casull SRH cylinder off to TK Custom so I can get it machined to work with .45 ACP with full moonclips and of course .454/.45 Colt moonclips. It occurs to me that there could possibly be some risk with shooting the 'hotter' .454 rounds. I won't buy Hornady XTP...
;-) Thank the GF. She came across a box of my old Army stuff and was putting together a scrapbook so it was lying around. Figured the Calvary stuff would go well with the 1858 Army, even if the gun belt is er... not quite a period piece.
LOL... "Pony that can't cross the road". I had...
