never knew 1861 Navy was such a pain!

great posts makos_goods!!! The two 1860's I have is the modern Pietta version and a 1974 Euroarms... The Euroarm is sweet and built a little different than the Pietta, I wish I had an original 1860 to compare, the Euroarm is a bit smaller than the Pietta, and the Euroarm striking hammer area...

How often should nipples be removed for cleaning?

Haha :p .... I am some what mechanically challenged... Just a few months ago I stuck a screwdriver through my hand while replacing a double pole breaker. I'm pretty scarred up from self mutilation. lol Though that cylinder stripping was from being in a hurry, my bad.... It's not hard to strip...

How often should nipples be removed for cleaning?

I went with.... If properly greased, nipples can wait 1 year or more before needing to be removed for cleaning. The reason is, I used to clean them after every shooting session, then one day I stripped the cylinder threads thinking I screwed the nipple in straight, cost $50 for a new cylinder...

    Timing ? again

the bolt could be over sized etc... no matter... take it all apart and check the stop spring 1st before filing anything down, it could be bent or broken pushing on the bolt. There is a thread somewhere here on how to disassemble the 51... it's fun to do :)..... just check all the parts...

    Black Powder Revolver/Pistol

Of course he is loading it wrong, even worse he reloaded after shooting it, and still pointing at his chest.... the gun is always hot, but much more after shooting it. Had something still be burning in the chamber his shoulder would of been blown off. Then the caps not firing, the pellets...

.22 squirrel hunting near Austin or Georgetown?

If your hunting them in trees stick with a small shotgun or less. Shooting squirrels in a tree with a .22 is not a good thing if you miss.... .22 can travel pretty far...
