Most "fun" to shoot pocket pistols..

Not sure how some of the guns listed in the thread are considered "pocket" guns, I must have small pockets. I like shooting my Bodyguard, and consider it a true pocket gun.

    Apex DCAEK for S&W M&P 40

My groups tightened up quite a bit when I put the APEX in my M&P .40, as other have said the "hitch" right before it broke was quite stiff when slow firing and would cause issues.

Where do you guys shoot in the henrico/ rinchmond VA area

Colonial Shooting Academy is really the only public one in the area that I know of, there's Dominion down in Midlothian but it's definitely not as good as Colonial. Greentop is the shop of choice in the area as well. You can hit Dance's down in Petersburg as well, but I'd say it has less...

    105CTi oddball question

I'd say the Beretta 391 and Browning Gold gained popularity as a field gun being used as a clays gun, which eventually led to target specific guns being rolled out. I imagine the 105 will follow much the same path. I see no reason it couldn't be used at clay games, I've shot a Browning Gold...

    BERETTA 92 VS. PT92 QUESTION

I don't really have much to add, other then the fact that you can get a new Beretta 92 for $410 with two mags from CDNN right now.

Too much gun oil causes excesive dirt?

Same experience here, I find that too much oil makes a mess. My protocol now is to spray a part with RemOil or CLP, then use compressed air to blow the part off. This leaves a light coat of oil, but not the excess that catches dirt. I do this with semi auto shotguns, O/Us, and revolvers, and...

New grips for Super Blackhawk...much better

I found after doing a bit of shooting that the stock grips on my new Super Blackhawk were just too small. I got a set of zebrawood grips off Ebay, no brand on them. They're HUGE, but fit my hand well. They could use some refining as far as fit to the gun, but after shooting 50rds today I love...

Are Revolvers any more reliable than modern Autos?

Not quite sure what the definition of reliability is in this case. Are we talking simple failure to fire, or an actual breakdown? I'm very much a newbie, but my observation from rentals is that the revolver is definitely the more reliable gun as far as dependable firing. I've rented 7...

Need new front sight for Super Blackhawk...

Thanks all for the advice. After thinking things through, I believe I will go shoot off a rest before jumping to conclusions. I just have a hard time believing that the gun would be this far off from the factory, it is a new gun. As stated, it is very pretty consistent...so I don't think...

Need new front sight for Super Blackhawk...

I was actually typing that while the other post was being written. My groups would fit inside a playing card at 15yds...not great, but I think that's acceptable? I'm shooting offhand. A few of the better groups formed a cloverleaf.

Need new front sight for Super Blackhawk...

I appreciate the input. I thought about this, and I shot 50rds with the gun, it was very consistently 1-1.5" high once I got it adjusted. I was only shooting 240gr/900fps rounds, so the recoil was very mild. The groups got better the more I shot (and adjusted elevation on the site), which...

Need new front sight for Super Blackhawk...

Hello All - I took my new Ruger Super Blackhawk .44mag to the indoor range today to try it out. I quickly found it was shooting 3-4" high at 10yds. After adjusting the rear sight, the best I could do was 1-1.5" high at 10yds...not too bad but quite a bit off what I'd like for the 20-25yd...

    what was i thinking!?!

I find that I do more "damage" to the gun by taking them apart for cleaning. Just inevitable that I'll bump the barrel against the wood or something along those lines, so I keep cleanings to a minimum. As stated, there's just not much need to do a heavy cleaning each time it's shot. I shoot...

How to Stop Flinching With a 44 Mag.

I'm by no means an expert, but I've run into a similar problem. My issue wasn't a fear of any kind of pain, it was simply my body trying to anticipate and compensate for the recoil. The way I work around this is the simple drill of only loading 5 in the cylinder, this seems the simplest...
