I just bought a S&W 910, which is in the 59/5900 series family and most simular to the 5904/5906 in most respects. For $230 out the door and its accurate and reliable, you can't do much better. Magazines are easy enough to find of for it uses the same magazines as the rest of the 59 series.

I'd think either a Hi Power and Ruger SP101 in 9mm for 9mm or for .45 users, a 1911 pattern and a 1917/Model 25 revolver. In both instances, the same ammo can be used, no need to purchase separate ammo.

I saw other possibilities as well, the S&W 910 and 915. I'm told these are in the same family as the 59/459/5906 but more of the economy versions, are these good as well or stick with the previous versions? Thanks

Ruger P85s and P89s seem to fit the bill along with what others suggested. Both are 9mm, both are double stack and high capacity, both aren't expensive, both are accurate enough, and both have decock capability

Having owned guns in 9mm, .40 and .45 ACP, I have better control and hit with more precision with the 9mm out of the three.
