Agreed (and I'm a police officer). If I'm involved in a shooting I'm not saying a word without a union rep at the very least, if not a lawyer. If the police are pressuring you for a statement immediately after a deadly force incident, beware and know your rights!

Everyone should remove "warning shot" from their vocabulary. If the situation requires that you display a firearm, it's a deadly force situation! This is serious! You need to be good and sure of what is happening and be prepared to deal with the threat as if your life depends on it, because...

I had the same feeling reading about it, especialy since it has no iron sights. I think ultimately I am still going to get a M1 but I am liking this rifle the more I read and hear about it. You can never have too many.

Thanks exgun, I just saw the shooting mat deal on the website. The other thing that I have to consider is what to get for glass ($$) since there are no iron sights.

I want to get a M14/M1 as well but they seem to be hard to come by right now. I figured I might pick up the FN now and look into a Smith Enterprises M1 in a few months. Not 100% sure how long those take to get. I have not had a chance to talk to my guy at the gun shop about that.

searcy1321, I just found this thread and I am facing the same question you had. I was looking at the 700P in both barrel lengths and ditto for the XCR. Did you get your XCR yet and if so how do you like it?

I can't speak to the hunting end of things but for home defense I find it hard to believe that a bolt action would be anything but a hinderance. I feel the semi-auto would give most people a faster follow up shot if it is called for. These are dynamic situations where you should be on the move...
