Are 45 Compacts getting that much better?

Are 45 Compacts getting that much better? No. Have 45 Compacts gotten better? Yes. In other words, it's already happened. A baby .45acp will never be as reliable or controllable as a baby 380 or 9mm (due to recoil forces involved), but there are some excellent choices in small .45acp guns...

Learned a new lesson about Handguns Tonight!

I was not there. But, seems to me a pro-gun opportunity to educate and inform becoming a moment of alienation and insult possibly forging another anti-gun camper. Every vote counts. Sometimes we're our own worse enemy.

Thoughts on Background Checks for private sales?

If you buy the gun retail, or completed transfer paperwork when purchased, your name will be the last documented owner forever, unless paperwork is completed when you sell it or for a transfer (unknown to you) sometime down the road, or it's reported stolen. If you sell without a transfer or...

    substitute primer (magnum for small)

Be sure to keep the pressure up on small pistol loads using small rifle primers so the harder primer deforms enough to seal the primer pocket or you could get gas cutting.

    Questions/problems about my Certified Pre-Owned P226

I have a W. German P226. All original. My friend has a CPO W. German P226. My trigger is much smoother, is lighter and the break feels a bit more clean. I suspect any replacement CPO will be similar, or getting exactly what you want sight-unseen very hit-n-miss.

    .40 S&W vs. +P 9mm

I really wish people would stop using that image. The 147gr 9mm was NOT fired from a handgun, as was likely fired from an MP5. And, regardless, there's not a reference to what bullet was used; some are better than others. But, the 9mm fans love that image indeed, as do the .40sw camp given...

Glock 19 vs Glock 17 for CCW

Agreed. I find Glocks especially misleading when looking at the numbers. They feel bigger when carrying, especially in width as they are the same width throughout. Case in point: CZ 75 Compact Length: 7.24 in Height: 5.03 in Width: 1.38 in Glock 19 Length: 7.36 in Height: 5.04 in...

How would you have handled this? Educate, or walk away?

I was not there. I don't know you. I don't know them. People often chat on trails, especially if they are hard trails as often you may have more in common with fellow "hardcores", especially if they are of similar age. That said, I think you over-reacted. And, granting my ignorance stated in my...

    Bullet setback does exist

Always odd to me, despite the clear preponderance of evidence, some people still really must have it happen to them before it's real. Yes, bullet setback is real. Glad we got that settled. Ammo with a crimp behind the bullet can help, but few bother with that now. I ride the slide into battery...

    XD 9mm

From the prosecution standpoint, you are reckless in choosing to carry a gun with a dangerous "hair trigger" (because you made it lighter than factory). Lay-people are not knowledgeable about guns generally. It does not matter if it's right, or if you like it or if you agree. A "jury of your...

    hammer vs. striker fire

Generally: Striker Pro: Consistent trigger pull. Easier to clean. Fewer parts. Fewer access points for debris. Lacks manual safety. Most with poly frame. Con: Lacks second strike. Does not hit primer with as much force. Lighter trigger easier to ND. Lacks manual safety. Most with poly frame...

    .40 S&W vs. +P 9mm

The heavier one will perform better. I used .40sw for years trying to like shooting it in the compact size guns I CCW. In the end, the .40sw recoil was not offset by it's proven performance advantage over the 147gr 9mm that I use now instead. I know .40sw is better, but I'm better with 9mm.
