full size .44 mag sd/hd rounds?

I think your .45 Colt is the best self defense handgun. Big bullet, moderate recoil, and terriffic stopping power.

What to carry into the woods?

First deer hunts were in Wisconsin. Dad was born there, and had relatives farming. I don't carry a handgun when hunting with a rifle, no need. Bow hunting I did carry a .44 S&W. I do carry a revolver when hiking, canoeing, or camping in Florida woods /swamps. A .44 with the first two...

44 mag and AZ black bears

Read this, I always thought Lead Hard Cast was the right choice, but this expeirenced hunter said NO. http://www.foggymountain.com/handgunning-bear-hunt3.shtml

    Would you pay $480.00 for a 317?

I bought 3 for a tad under $500 ea. One for my wife, 2" "lady Smith" deluxe grips, case and tuned, and two with 3"bbl & adj sites for my son and I. Allot of fun but not all that accurate compared to a S&W model 18.

    why hot loads?

When I bought a .44 mag in the early 70's my father thought I was crazy. Use a rifle he said. His opinion a .45 Colt was more than enough in a handgun. And the .38 special was all you need. A .357 was too much flash and kick. I wonder what he would have said about the .460 or 500 magnum...

Colt 38 Detective Special - Age Question

http://www.lobogunleather.com/1_home http://bellcharteroakholsters.com/index.htm I heard good things about these two makers. I had good luck buying used Bianchi holsters for my Colt Detective & Diamondback on E Bay.

Garrett's 44 Mag 330 gr Hammerhead Ammo vs buffalo bore 44 mag 340 grain plus p plus.

Better look again. The Buffalo Bore loads work in Ruger SA's. Beartooth 355's fit just fine in a stock Ruger SA and can be pushed over 1200fps I learn something new almost everyday. :-) http://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=54 The long bullet must be set pretty deep...

Garrett's 44 Mag 330 gr Hammerhead Ammo vs buffalo bore 44 mag 340 grain plus p plus.

The heavy loads do NOT fit in S&W, Ruger SA, revolvers. Your make of revolver dictates your choice. You can step down to 310 grn loads. I have some and use them for pig hunting. I'm sure they work a variety of game but 90 % of my shooting is done with 225 to 250 grn LSWC, 9 % with 240, 265...

Big Bore 44 Special for self defense.

.44 spcl = low flash, low recoil, lower blast noise, but a big bullet, big performance, big fun

    Colt Python Currently Overpriced

Beautiful revolvers. I have a 4" & a 6" that I will never sell. I never see any deals in my neighborhood. $1800 and $2500 for one with a box is the norm. Too expensive for me.

    Comparison: Python vs Anaconda?

Both revolvers represent quality and craftmanship. It is a crying shame that they are no longer made. I own 2 Pythons ( 4", 6" ), and an unfired Andaconda. I would buy more but not at todays inflated prices. I know they will never go down in price, but their price is out of line in my opinion.
