exterior pitting. Strip the sights off the barrel and clean up the pitting in a lathe. Take fine cuts following the barrel contour about an inch at a time and finish off by blending the cuts with a fine, well chalked file and then emery to required finish.

Tasco turret caps stuck - screws out turret

You might try and fully unscrew the turet and degrease the threads. Roughen the clean threads slightly with a needle file and use locktight or plastic pipe cement to re joint. Leave a couple of days then press the cap top onto a hot cloths iron for 8 to 10 seconds and then unscrew. Brass and...

NY starts confiscating guns from registrations

Gun Bans Please do not allow the few dishonest politicians from sending your gun legislation the way of the UK. We sat on the fence and look what happened to us. The banning of firearms is a fair pointer that things are going wrong with the economy and that society is going to face some very...

Thanks for the info on quenching in linseed oil, I will try that. I think one of the problems these days with making springs is you can never tell what type of steel you are dealing with, some are cold forming, some are air hardening and some need to be plunged into virgins blood(That sounds...

    Parker Hale Safari 458 Win.

Parker Hale 458. Thank you Natman. I have been looking over the rifle and have noted some possible improvements. I would like to find a spare extractor ( unmachined preferably) and fit it to reduce the sideplay when the bolt is at it's most rearward position. Any one know where I could get one?

    Parker Hale Safari 458 Win.

I have acquired a Parker Hale Safari Model rifle in .458 Win. mag. It is giving trouble loading soft nosed(flat top) ammo. Does anyone know of a fix for this problem or is it a fault on all rifles with soft nose ammo? I would be gratfull if anyone can advise me of the correct proceedure.

Hello, I want to make a mould for 12 gauge slugs and would appreciate any advice or information on this subject. I have a LEE one ounce mould but the slug diameter is smaller than the shotgun bores which are both cylinder. Is there a reason why they are smaller, ie. for use in a sabot, or to...
