Max range and max effective range have two very different meanings. I think you're referring to max range here. Firing from the hip being probably the least effective way of engagement.

Same as dogmush. I have a 300blk in FDE and a 5.56 in good ol' black. I also shoot with beginners from time to time, so I stick with tan mags in the tan rifle and black mags in the black rifle. Easy day.
