    1903 colt pocket 380

Don't disassemble a Colt 1903 completely unless you have a lot of patience. I did it once, it won't happen again.

    Which .22 Auto?

I guess I don't understand what a "regular handgun" is. I wouldn't rule out Rugers and Buckmarks myself.

    A good Maine LGS? Mid-coast.

When I lived in the Portland area I did most of my firearms related shopping at the Kittery Trading Post (KTP) and Howells in Gray. I also frequented some small shops around the area but most of my guns came from Kittery. Since I'm mostly into handguns, LL Bean has been of no value to me. They...

Accidental discharge while chambering a round?

I had a S&W 22A that produced a couple slam fires. That was just before I transfered it to a gunsmith I know. Not something I want around.

    Range Qualification?

A club I belonged to had similar rules but they only applied to the indoor range. Unqualified people were known to shoot throught the walls, ceiling and light fixtures. They were allowed to shoot at the outdoor ranges until they could qualify for inside shooting.

How to Survive a Pirate Attack

"Very good stuff. Interesting that the media is now willing to openly discuss armed self defense. That always seemed like something they tried so hard to stay away from. " TexasRifleman, that wasn't the regular media, that was Fox.

    Guide rod types

Wilkersk, how much more weight did you get up front by installing a titanium guide rod in you XD? I'm assuming the original was steel which has a density of 7.85 g/cc. Titanium has a density of 4.54 g/cc. Also assuming the replacement rod had the same physical dimensions of the original, your...

Challenge yourself to shoot and become proficient with iron sights. If the resources mentioned in previous posts are not readily available, try the internet. The Army Marksmanship Unit has a wonderful and thorough instruction manual that has everything you need to know for pistol shooting. You...

Chart on different calibers and their stopping power

Except for rifle calibers I didn't see any 100%. So pull the trigger twice. What's the problem?

It's down to two - help me choose

I had a Taurus 92(okay, I know not quite a Beretta) and now have a CZ75B. The Taurus was a little big for a 9mm. The CZ is a better fit for me and more accurate than the Taurus ever was. Both were reliable.

    sight picture for handgun?

You could swap out the rear sight for a taller one, that's easier and reversalbe vs grinding off the front.

    Best .22 semi auto.

For plinking I have both a Buckmark and a Ruger MkII. I can't tell you which one I like best. The Buckmark does have a better trigger because I flipped the sear spring. The Ruger is all original. For Bullseye shooting I have S&W41 and that trigger is still better than the Buckmark. This is a...
