Savage 24V series d refuses to break open

In case you decide to take it apart, the ping go out toward the left. Springs need to come out first thing, then lever, after that, the hammer strut and hammer. Then the latch pin. After the latch is plumb out, if it still won't break open, its just stuck and you can try putting your knee...

    Repairable or hopeless?

Glad to see you got it going. I remember another US Revolver that ended up as a door knocker.

So I got this old Savage single shot break open...

Could the stock be rubbing somewhere?

    broke my lee hand press.

I broke 2 of those LEE "C" presses. Only paid $15 back then. After the second one broke, I had them apply the compensation to a cast iron "O" press. It works much better to swadge .360 Makarov bullets down to .356 bullets for a .380. So I really had abused it for a light weight item.

    Anyone hunt with muzzleloading shotguns?

You might be able to build one. Often times db sets are cheap when the rest is gone. And a breech loader can have a breech plug put in (for 12 ga. think 7/8 x 14). Locks come and go on flea bay. And stocks are pretty easy, especially with back action locks. Only enemy is time.

Putting a little more power in a $15.00 Daisy

Just found this. Have not read all 18 pages, but I don't suppose anyone has asked, "Where can you get square cross-section spring stock?" I would love to wind a spring for my old Daisy out of that!

Well, a forcing cone on a revolver is 11 degrees. Guess I could start there.

Does anyone know what a 5mm RFM throat looks like? Need to make a reamer. Thanks.

Rust blue question: Did I screw it up?

One thing I've noticed with rust bluing is that the more its boiled, the more it looks like and acts like rust. But a good carding will not only take off the loose oxide, but actually burnish as it goes. A carding wheel has real fine wire, but is fairly aggressive, as is fine steel wool. Usually...

Does anyone know what kind of throat a 5mm RFM chamber has? (I'm converting a Sav 24 and need to know in order to make a reamer). Thanks.
