    Hand-rubbed finish on stock?

Hello All. I recently purchased a Tikka T3 Deluxe in 6.5x55. It has a decent piece of wood on it. I was wondering if there is an oil or wax that could be applied regularly to improve the water resistance and the appearance of this stock? If so, any tips on application would be appreciated...

    .308 vs 30.06

Everything else being equal, I do find the .308 to be a little easier on the shoulder than the '06 and you are only giving up approx 100 fps with most bullet weights. As someone pointed out earlier, the Tikka is not a true short action, just a long action with a bolt stop so you are not getting...

    Leupold VXII VS Nikon Buckmasters

Quality of glass and coatings is probably better on the Nikon. Leupolds biggest advantage IMO is the eye relief. If you don't need the extra eye relief, I think you will be happier with the image quality with the Nikon.

    Eye Relief question

I have an older 3x-9x Burris Fullfield and it probably has about 3 inches of eye relief on 3x (max). I think the older Burris scopes have good optics and are well built but I have always found them to be heavier and longer than comparably powered scopes and they have never had great eye relief...

    Anybody Shooting the 338 Federal?

Trueblue, I've read the ballistics and would take a 210 gr. partition from the 338 fed over a 180 gr. '06 load for elk. Not an elk on the planet that load wouldn't kill under 300 yards (which is the same limit I would put on the 180 gr. '06 load). Not to mention that the kimber in 338 fed...

    6.5x55 advice

I recently purchased a 6.5x55 with a 1:8" twist. I would like to load 120 gr. nosler ballistic tips for eastern whitetails and antelope (eventually) but the twist rate seems kind of fast for the lighter bullet. Anyone have any experience loading this bullet with a similar twist rate. What...

    Anybody Shooting the 338 Federal?

Pinetree, I kind of like the idea myself. I think the 338 fed would make a great little elk thumper, better than an 06 in a handier package. The kimber would be sweet to carry but you will know it went off (at the range, you won't notice if you are shooting at an elk). Still, a lot less...

    Tikka or Browning A-Bolt?

I own several A-bolts in various calibers. Most are Medallions but one Stainless Stalker. I really like the design and think you get a lot for your money. They are acceptably accurate, I wouldn't call any of them tack drivers. I have to work to find a load that shoots 1 moa. I recently...

Tell us more about the .17 HMR....

I bought a CZ 452 varmint in 17 hmr a couple of years ago to use on ground hogs. At the range I was very impressed with the rifle and the round. With all three of the ammo brands available initially, 10 shots would group under 1" and all shot to the same point. When a hunting buddy and I took...

New Member Just signed on. Looks like a nice place to talk about guns. I am mostly into sporting rifles. I do a fair amount of big game, small game, and bird hunting. I like shotguns and handguns as well but I think I am obsessed with rifles. I enjoy shooting at the range as often as I can...
