    Sleepy Head Last year I was calling moose on the ledge of a mountain while my hunting partner was on top watching.     Is a 300 win mag too big for deer?

    I beleive the 300 Mag has way too much punch for deer, but that's my opinion. To me a 30-30, 270, or 308 should do the job perfectly.

    7mm Rem Mag or 30-06?

    I've hunted moose all my life and love it! I've shot them with a 303, 30-30, 270, 308, a few 30-06, 7 MM mag, and 300 Mag. Personally if I had to make a choice on my favorite one it would be my 7 MM mag. I've shot moose at 400 yards with this rifle, and it always did the job!
