    help with 308 Loads

WildAlaska, I think that's a decent idea. But I don't think you'll need three rounds each of the lower charges. I would just fire one shot at 40 grains, another at 40.3 grains, a third at 40.6 grains... go on with one shot each until you get to 41.5 and then get started on the round robin...

    help with 308 Loads

Since Hirtenberger stuff is using 42 grains of the "whatever" ;) powder, and you have it on good authority (the Speer number 12) that 42 grains is safe... then just work up to 42.3 grains in .3 grain increments. Once you have shown that 42.3 grains is safe, then shoot a few OCW "bracket...

    help with 308 Loads

Speer number 12 lists 44 grains of RL15 as max with their 190 grain match bullet. Admittedly that would be a pretty warm load. Speer shows it making 2561 fps from a 22" Remington 700 barrel. I'll give you a link to my website where you can read about OCW load development. That should...

Load needed for 62 gr. IMI bullet in AR

Use W748... Work up to 26.0 grains of W748... Start at about 24.5 grains, and shoot a pressure test shot every .3 grains until you get to 26.0 grains. Then shoot a 5 to 7 shot group with the 26.0 grain charge of 748. Seat the bullet a caliber's depth into the case. Please post your...

    Lee Zip Trim?

... Save your money... I like Lee stuff, and have decided that their Perfect Powder Measure is as good as any on the market at any price. Laugh if you like, but when you've got a 20 dollar measure that'll stay within .1 of a grain with most powders, it's ridiculous to spend more. The Lee...

    Sorry to ask (yet again?)

... That milsurp stuff is probably the "prickskytte" 143 grain ammo. If the bullet is silver, and sharp on the point, that's the stuff. Norma made some, as did Hirtenberger. The Norma stuff was naturally the best. It had a green seal around the primer. The Hirtenberger stuff used a black...

    Lake City 50 BMG primers

... Well, we got the rifle into the field this afternoon... We zeroed the scope for 1000 yards this afternoon. This is a Bushnell 3 to 9 Trophy Mildot in Burris Signature Zee rings. (Temporary, okay? :D) There weren't any good targets of opportunity on the hillside where the...

    Lake City 50 BMG primers

Thanks! I appreciate your time, very much. Good info for sure... I'll let you know how things go. We're gonna put my Bushnell Trophy on the rifle and get to the field tomorrow afternoon. Dan

    Lake City 50 BMG primers

Corrosive? Since the Bosnian (Yugo) stuff is somewhat corrosive, does that mean that a hot soapy water bore bath is in order? And thanks for the tip on the Mitchell's stuff. I'll skip that. Now, What ammo can you steer me toward that won't harm the bore, and won't shoot shotgun...

    Lake City 50 BMG primers

A question or two... We're getting ready to break in an LAR Grizzly in the next couple of days. I have some Bosnian made 50 BMG ammo that I thought I'd use for break in. I don't know the bullet weight, or the BC. What is the BC of the average 750 grain bullet? Do you have any...

    Who's Used TAC Rifle Powder?

check this link... TAC gets good reviews, as a rule... You may be interested in this link: http://www.snipershide.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=13;t=000649 Dan

    bushnell banner scopes

Check to see where it was made... If the Bushy was made in China, it's substandard, no question about it. If it's a Korea make, it'll likely serve you well, but a Leupold "Rifleman" for around 200 bucks would trounce it... The Japan Bushnells are all pretty good, and in my opinion are...

    Count every shot?

I have long contemplated the old BR practice of counting every shot in a group regardless of called flyers or other data that would credibly explain the spoiled shot. Some folks take pleasure in snidely ridiculing the practice of discounting called flyers from groups, chuckling amongst their...

Strange group @ the range today

You might want to weight those LC cases. I've got some that are actually in the 94 grain weight range, and others which are well below 90 grains. That could be doing it, yes... Dan
